Technically the BJ74 is a "mid wheel base"....... Not a shorty.The shorty just does not light my fire. Too small and it just looks like someone forgot the back end somewhere! I know they are very popular and it might be due to availability. The only drawback to the troopy is the lack of rear doors like a wagon. I'm sure that can be a hassle if the interior is not organized properly.
Can't go wrong with a Troopy. The 2H (earlier model) or the 1HZ (later model) can provide years of reliable service.I just did a picture search and the 70 is what I had in my head. To me the 75 troopy just looks right. Might be because I'm used to my 60 and the room it affords me.
I would imagine the long wheel base would be more comfortable for long road trips. On the west coast, nothing is close.
