does anyone have a spare ARB bumper for my newly aquired BJ70

Ryan

You and your ARB bumpers! isn't one on your 60 enough! :flipoff2: :D

after seeing how poorly they stand up and how poorly equiped they are i wouldn't put one on my rigs. i would rather take the $1500 and put it towards a custom unit that incorporates a high lift mount behind the winch and proper tow hooks mounted as well as being strong enough to resist bending...
but then that is just me...
try Kevin or Dan at 4wheel...
cheers

I like mine ok.. I think it's obviously better suited to the outback and expedition travel then Moab. Only thing I don't like about mine is the middle supports are wide and seem close to the lights but they are on the frame rail. Come to think about it, it looks bulky as heck but I've wheeled mine good in the last year. Nothing hard core and it really hasn't impacted my approach at all. Overall I'm pleased. Like wayne notes the highlift local would be nice and tow hooks although much beefier than they used to be couild still be stronger or better suited. I still use the factory hooks on the front if I need a tug :)

Here what it'll look like...

Damn that looks sweet wesintl! Do those ARB bumpers fit on 74's with a factory winch?

Im looking at buying new bull/winch bar like that but Ill be having a close look at ECB , TJM and some of the local custom jobs as well.

Is it difficult to remove the winch from the ARB bull bar when you dont need it for long periods?
Or how hard is too steal?:D

I don't think it works with the PTO. But I think dave or someone else here has made one work on a 60?? I can't remember. I'm sure you could probably get the electric to fit fine. The Bar fits the 75/78/79 series and either a high or low mount winch. It'll probably fit the 74 fine. I have an 8274 on there.

I wanted something to bolt up.. It's either that or custom here in the states and I didn't feel like findin/waiting for a custom job at that time. The winch isn't easy to steal out of there but it could be done. If someone want's it their going to get it. I'd tack weld the bolts to the arb or use those locks like on wheel lugs...

Hi All:

In response to Waynes's comments, I just have to say " I don't understand where you are coming from?!?" The ARB Bull Bar on my daily driver (1991 Isuzu Trooper) 99% protected the truck while totaling a VW Golf in an acident last year!

I'm not "hip" on the ARB 'Bars for the 40/45 Series, but for many other vehicles they look hella better than the stock plastic-clad bumpers, and are drastically more durable.

They are not "rock crawler" bumpers - i.e. low-profile. They are designed to protect the vehicle's frontend.

In regards to Roscoe's question, the winch mounts inside of the ARB Bull Bar, so theft of the wich would require removing the entire Bull Bar.

Alan

They run for 1500$ !?
I hope that's canadian funds!
Damn those goodies are expensive.. I was looking at this front bullbar and at their roof rack, that's gonna run me over 3000$!
Do they also make rear bumpers?
Mines all bent :/

Alan, That is not true. The winch on a 7x bar can be removed without taking the bar off same thing on a 60 bar. It doesn't fall right out and takes a little manuevering but it will come out with the bar secure on the rig

LOL Im thinking more about the things I pay for. Last year in Western Australia, J7s or more specifically 75 series were the 2nd most stolen vehicle after the Hyandai Excell.

The recovery rate of stolen landcruisers is the lowest in Australia.
My guess is that professional car thieves are rebirthing the parts to supply the mining industries insatable greed for 75 series cab chassis'.

If I can make it just a little less attractive by taking a winch off I will do so

I just bought "canuck's" old 70 for the wife, and I don't like the way all the crazy Calgarians drive when the snow hits, and all the wildlife between Calgary and Kelowna. I have been impessed with my 60 series ARB so far, and want to put one on the new cruiser.

Wayne are you still making those snorkels for the 70's?

Canuck I can't thank you enough, that cruiser is almost mint!

i am going by what i have seen. for the money, these bumpers should have decent tow hooks mounted, a high lift mount and be stronger. to me they are a nice light bar.
last year, or was it the year before, we wen to pull Dan out of a mud hole and since he did not have tow points we had to hook onto the bumer itself and bent the bugger. i never even pulled that hard.
like i mentioned each to their own, but for me i would put the money into a custom job that fits my desires exactly.
cheers

Ok Wayne...since you and I are friends I can say this...You're fawking NUTS on this ARB bumper thing :flipoff2: . First of all they're nowhere near $1,500...even in Canada...especially with the exchange rate where it is. Most retailers are selling them for 700 USD, so that's more like 850 Cdn. Now I like custom just as much as the next guy but here's my real world experience with the ARB bar:

1 - BJ70 loaded w/ gear
1 - 6% downhill grade
130 Kph
1 - 4 point Black tail buck who jumped out of nowhere

I hit this little bugger dead on before I could even think to hit the brakes. The resulting damage? A bent licsense plate....A "nice light bar"...whatever Wayner

LOL!!
Brett old buddy,
right to the heart of the matter, i love your brutal honesty it is very refreshing.

it turns out that i have not priced out an ARB lately, i think that is the price i was quoted from Dan or Kevin at 4 wheel a few months back and since my failing memory does play tricks on me it turns out i priced out TJM and that is what Dan had on his 70 when we bent the bars.

what it comes down to is personal preferance and i am not a big fan of run of the mill bolt on aftermarket parts. i like unique, one off, built to fill a purpose, parts. even if it is ugly it is still better than 150 trucks sitting side by side sporting the same "aftermarket saleman wet dream".

as for wether the bumpers can take out a poor Bambi or not, i have never hit a deer so i wouldn't know. if i lived in deer country i would run a roo bar that drives the beast under the vehicle instead of one that has the tendency or design to flip the animal into the cab where it gores the occupents trying to get back out...

cheers
