I have a July 69 build/70 MY 40 and the carb started pouring fuel out of it in several places and was flooding the engine. I believe I have the original carb but am not certain. I’ve been told the 3/69-9/69 carbs were notoriously bad. What are my options to rebuild or replace it. I want to stay period correct if at all possible due the original-ness of this rig. Also this was originally a Cali vehicle and appears to have 73 smog equipment on it.

I’m ok with removing the smog equipment but one of the vacuum lines goes to the distributor as a vacuum advance?

What or who has told you these 3/69 to 9/69 carburetors were notoriously bad ? I have the same one and it is fine. Toyota had changed carburetors over time and there are many of them. Personally , Aisin is the manufacturer and they were always quality. Some people complain about a Weber carb and they are ok as well. I believe it is a personal choice. If you rockcrawl then maybe one is better than another.
