I tried to get in and It was password protected... how do I get on the waiting list

Someone had asked for a checklist. I just toss stuff in the back last minute and head out. A few random things come to mind.
  • A range of clothing - not a lot of clothing - a range. Think layers. When the sun is out its intense and warm, sunburn real quick. When its not and windy it can get a bit cold on the passes. Gotta love those seat heaters. Rain gear is nice for being able to hang out when if its raining.
  • Sunscreen
  • A warm for you sleeping bag. Nightime temps can get in the low forties. That said everyone varies on what they need to stay warm. I have a 15 year old Mountain Hardware bag. I dress warm, add a fleece blanket and hat and Im toasty, I love sleeping in the cold but i hate being cold.
  • I have an inexpensive but large Coleman tent and an even cheaper tarp. Tarp is big and covers the whole tent. I stay very dry and happy that way. Good stakes for holding it all down and secure.
  • Love my ARB fridge I purchased from Sleeoffroad. Its not a necessity I survived for years with a cooler and frozen gallons of water.
  • Water - yes lots of water, and drink it often. Add a 5 gal container of water for cooking and cleaning up.
  • Safety items like a Fire extinguisher and First Aid kit are always good to have on hand, especially with kids. Nothing cures the hurt of a bruise like a big old band aid.
  • A camera take lots of pics, of yourself doing handstands and the tree pose (very popular for dating sites, don't ask me how I know). Just remember to put it aside from time time. Let the views burn deep into the recesses of your brain. Any camera will do its hard to take bad pics of the scenery.
  • Toilet paper, wipes and whatever you need to feel clean and fresh. The porta potties have paper but its good to come prepared.
  • A swimsuit, the hot springs in town are a nice way to relax, only went once but I did enjoy the hot soak in the light rain.
  • Your favorite foods, I like to eat good (not gourmet) hearty comfort foods when camping.

Read back a few pages. You need to email Chris. His email is in this thread a few pages back.

Crazy how popular this is this year. I made sure to get on at 7 (MT), but I wasn't thinking I'd need to be speed-typing through the form to get it done in time.

Goes to show how well the organizers have done in the past putting this shindig together. Kudos to them! Should be an awesome time. Crossing my fingers, hoping I'm one of the first on the wait-list!

Thank you DaninDenver I will do that ASAP.

suprax7nut thank you for the info. I emailed Chris. I hope I am able to make it as well. That was a fast registration window.

Ok..... another update. We're going to open this up a little further. If you emailed Chris for a waitlist spot, expect an email with instructions on how to register. We know some of you are on the on the East Coast and need to get to sleep, so we're going to give the first wave 24 hours to respond to the waitlist email. Honestly, this caught us a little by surprise. We knew it was growing in popularity, but were not expecting it to be this popular. We are not equipped to handle 100 vehicles.

Camping is going to be tight this year. If you like to have tons of space around your setup, Ironton may not be your best option. (But it will be fun) If you're thinking of staying in town (Silverton or Ouray), I would book a room soon, they will not last.

Lastly, I am still working on another location just outside of Silverton, but Ironton is still our HQ for now. If you are in, you will receive emails from us going forward. We're confident that we can open this up to more folks and still keep the same "feel" we've always had. There will be a more structured approach to departure times and trail numbers this year. We like the laid-back approach we've always used, but with this many 100's, we're going to need to become a little more structured. There will be staggered departure times and you will all be receiving a link to website that will allow you to select your trails for the weekend. More on this later..... for now, thanks for making this event what it is. Without everyone's willingness to make new friends and drive thousands of miles to see old friends, it would just be @bluecruiser and I sitting on the tailgate of a 100 staring at each other.

I got pretty lucky I guess. I started clicking on the registration tab a minute before 6 and refreshed my screen every time until I got in (it's because of the Cookies, the session gets stored so refreshing clears that). I think what helped was Autofill for address and the fact I have my credit card number memorized. Very grateful but also sorry for all those that couldn't get in.

Do most people end up staying through Monday in order to fully enjoy Sunday's activities?

I always left on monday! I think we had about 8 100s in camp on monday morning last year!

Hey Dan, did you get out of that plane in time to get a spot?

In for yr 4!

Looks like I made it in.....

Will be great seeing you guys again!

Man, we need to grab a beer together in Denver!!!!

I was able to make it in

Sorry to those of you who weren't, hopefully some room will clear up on the waiting list.

Now you need to hurry up and find another 100 to drive!

Last year was my first HIH and my first time camping for more than oen night.

Just food. WARMTH for night
You do NOT need extra fuel, but we brought 10gal extra so it was nice at the end of the day we didnt have to run back to town but will not be bringing extra again.

We were all freezing. Definitly going to invest in some 0 degree sleeping bags!

Avocados are on order.

This might end up like the popular music festivals that have expanded to 2 weekends to accommodate more people. You guys are clearly doing something right!

Final update tonight.....

The first wave of waitlist spots were emailed. We also emailed others to let them know that they're on the waitlist, we're just waiting for the first wave to register (or not). If you have not received an email, don't fret just yet. We need to fill these spots one by one and we're giving the first wave 24 hours to register. We understand that you need to make plans and secure time away from home. We've been working on this for over 3 hours now.

It's still somewhat hectic as we sort through everything. Every event has a cap, ours just happens to be lower than all the large events and that's what makes HIH so special. Too big and it becomes a logistical nightmare and things get out of control. The event suffers and more importantly, the people suffer. We are floored and humbled at the number of folks interested in this event.

We will be setting a cancelation date very soon. We will give the people who registered the opportunity to get a refund if they cannot make it. The cutoff will be late May. We always have people who register, but cannot make it and we can fill those positions with more waitlist members. Please understand that Chris and I are committed to making this great, it's just a huge undertaking. Stick with us as we clean everything up and get the registrations in order. I'm going to need to bring a trailer just for the shirts.

Who said the 100 was losing popularity?
