Fight, Fight , Fight !!!!!!!!! LOL Dude the Landcruiser commnity is a close knit group of people those who own LV's and 45's are even smaller and closer I reallt doubt you could have taken pictures of everything wrong since your in the custom car business and dont seem to know much about LV's except there rare. Here on Mud everyone here knows where most all 45's and LV's are sitting who bought them and what they paid. I have seen alot cleaner body's sell for less than a grand. There out there ! So you come on here with 14 post and start ripping into people for giving you there opnion. Thats not what this fourm is about Its about getting these trucks back on the road and enjoying them Thats what we Cruiser Folks Do. If your not looking for help or Friends your in the wrong place. Post up on Ebay and move on thats where you should be if your just in it for a proffit.
Amen Rob. Im glad I know you!

to post or not to post. having restored/restoficationed an lv in my garage farming out nothing and doing it all myself (with help form some local cruiser heads) I guess I am kind of an expert on this rare tricky cruiser. what ever one pays for an lv to do the resto/restofication right so it lasts is going to cost 20k or more depends how much you can do yourself. if yours is in turn key drivable, road legal, condition 7k would not be a bad deal.
what would worry me is what is under the exterior primer. since there is surface rust on the inside then there is rust on the inside of the body panels. I see some bleed through rust in the primer on the doors and wonder what condition the B pillars are in as well as the floors. while the lv's are made of some thick steel rust can start and go pretty far without showing signs.
since you are adament about maybe restoring it I only say these things so you know what you are getting into. look at buckoreseus 'Matts' thread in the stickies
https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-owners-club/39575-1965-fj45lv-build-up-resto-thread.html
and lok up Merfields resto thread as well.
https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-owners-club/100170-1966-fj45lv-restoration-buildup-project.html
my thread while it is somewhat detailed the pictures are not great.
it took me almost 4 years to get mine out of the garage and on the road. unlike any other land cruiser the body work is intensive. this would cost a fortune to drop off at a body shop to be done right. many have tried an lv restoration and most have given up.
the fact it has a v8 doesn't bother me as much, even though I am a toyota purist, but at 7k I would want it to have every single door handle window crank, seat bracket , light assemble, hub cap, lift gate support , wiper assemblies, ect, everything. most of these parts are not made anymore and hard to source.
good luck with it but remember you posted this for sale in a fourm so there will be discussion good and bad we all want to see these things avoid the scrap yard. for comparisons sake I paid $2300 for mine and the exterior body was in like condition to yours but the water had come down the B pillars and rotted the floors out otherwise rust on the rest of the body was minimal.. it came with a frozen v8 and a running 2f drivetrain. I prolly put 20-25k into it. and god knows how many man hours in the garage. It is not all OEM and i modernized some of it to make it a more comfortable daily driver but i kept it Original as much as possible.
Welcome and good luck
Jason

First off...366% markup is $5400. 500% is $7500. I knew I was off by a bit but I did it in my head.

Anyway, I sold an LV that was running and driving perfectly to Missipboy here on MUD for about $7k. It had less rust than yours and I drove it a few thousand miles before I sold it. Registered, drove great, everything worked, complete truck. Search past LV sales and you'll see what has been around lately an what they sold for. Just because someone is a dumbass enough to pay $3800 for a roof doesn't mean that's an accurate gauge.

Anyway, good luck with the sale. Probably best to sell it since you don't want to make friends. 90% of all the LV parts in the country are owned by people in this section on MUD and friends usually get a better deal. I'm sure you'll see a 1000% markup when you try to buy parts, but hey, it's capitalism, right?!

I'll tell Greg you said Hi.

:D no discussion about that....
he payed 1500 $
7000 - 1500 = 5500
If you invest 1500 in wine, cars, stocks, cows or something else ;) & get 7000 the different is 5500
is 366,66666666% win for you/him/ her ..... ;)

or
1500 invest sell 3000 = 100%
1500 invest sell 4500 = 200%
1500 invest sell 6000 = 300%
1500 invest sell 7000 = 366,666666666666 %

HAHA thanks for all of the info guys.

I didn't say that I don't want friends. I started this post to learn and share about this rig and decide if I want to restore or sell.

As I mentioned before (a few times) I put a price because it was required also I like it and for me to sell it I would want what it is worth to me. Sorry if I offended anyone that was definatly not my intention. Except for 1ton tony :flipoff2:. Just kidding man.

Your math is correct but you're talking about margin, I am talking about markup.

Thats what it comes down to whats it worth to you! Thats why I dont offer up a price when I am buying something Chances are I am going to offend the person because there isnt much out there worth more than a dollor to me :bounce:

I want to sell it! As much as I think it's rad I would rather take care of some of my other projects. Please make me a reasonable offer and it's yours.

Guys,

I know Ben Spinney, he is a good guy. I don't think he was trying to pull a fast one on anyone. I think that he just got a smoking deal and didn't know what to sell it for. Like most of you have said 90% of the LV experience and knowledge is in this forum. I consider myself a pretty dedicated Land Cruiser guy and if I stumbled upon this truck I wouldn't know what to ask for it.

So if this price is out of line, let him know, and I am sure he will be open to what the experts have to say. BUT I am going to speak from experience "Experts" often lowball.... Because they know the amount of work involved.

If I had some cash sitting around, and wasn't moving I would try and pick this truck up, just because I have always wanted a 45!

Hopefully, someone negotiates with Ben and has a great new project to share!!

Ryan.
