My 62 didn’t come with a lock / knob on the glove box door when I bought it. Finally I was able to source a replacement lock for it but I can’t figure out how to mount it. I know it is secured by 2 screws but I have a gap between the lock assembly and glove box door. Does anyone know ho to properly mount this? Any assistance is appreciated. Also, can anyone with the same glove box take pictures of theirs, so I can compare and maybe use it as a guide to mount mine. Thank you.

I'll take a photo of mine when the sun comes out in a bit. The lock is from my '89 FJ62 donor vehicle and the glovebox door is in my '86 FJ60. I have spares of both and compared them side-by-side - there should be no difference in mounting.

So tried every way to mount the lock cylinder but of course it will go in only 1 way and I still have a gap...not sure what I'm missing. Any ideas guys?

The problem is the dent in your door. Must have misaligned the lock hole

This is a 62 door I just popped the lock out of same as yours but not dented

If your problem is a gap, as in the door won't fully close, try adjusting the latch that is on the inside of the box. The inside latch is attached with 2 screws that allows you to move and adjust it.

Thank you for the response. My problem is the gap under the knob infront of the door. I don’t think the dent on my door did any damage to be able to mount the lock cylinder correctly. I don’t see any mis alignment on the mounting hole or where the 2 screws goes in to. I’d hate to buy a replacement door and spend $$ if it’s not the issue :bang:

@Haring Bagsik Hello Haring. Did you end up solving this problem? What was the issue?

Yes I resolved it. It was the glove box door. Not sure how that dent is causing the gap, but I bought a dentless glove door from ebay, installed the lock cylinder, and no more gap. Are you having the same issue?

@Haring Bagsik Glad you got it fixed.

Yes I am, I still cant see how the my dents affect it either, oh well. Going to proceed to search here and ebay to see what pops up. Thanks for your response!

I still have the brown door I took a pic of
