Anybody mounted the 62 dual cup holder that goes on the side of the console from a 60. I bought a cup holder thinking it would just bolt right on but it looks like it won't?

My 60 has them...... the bottom mounting bolts come from inside the CC mold, not from inside the storage. The two upper clips you see are for securing and keeping things plumb, I guess. Seems mine are broken. The two screws mentioned though keep things secure and firmed up though.

That's because you have the earlier 60 center console, the later 60/62 console is different. I believe you can swap the whole unit, a nice upgrade as you gain about 3-4" of vertical storage, perfect size for a very specific object.

I think thats about all those cup holders are good for... They don't hold anything except cans. I always use the space between the e-brake and the cup holders to hold any non-can beverages. You just have to remember to move it before you pull the e-brake... DOH!

I thought this was as good of a place as any as I have recently starting working with Brad Hicks around ideas to bring his custom 3D printed cup holders and related products to the 60 series. You can see Brad’s work here Products | BH3D Printing . You may have seen these in other threads as they have been very well received in the later model Toyotas. We’d like to do the same for the 60s.

The current idea would be a double cup holder with cell phone slot that would fit snugly in the open area in front of the console. The bottom and sides would match the factory angle correctly so it would sit level on the cup surface but fit all the contours around it. Would be a single piece product and in the $30-$50 range.

Before investing the time and effort in development we need to determine if there is enough interest in the product to make it a worthwhile endeavor. At a minimum we’d need 10 or so people to commit to product in order to make this a reality.

Let us know your feedback and interest level and hopefully we can create the best solution yet to an issue that frustrates us all.

Thanks!

We are hoping to get our hands on a console to match the factory colors. We have a volunteer to let Brad borrow his grey console lid for a few days to do the color match. If anyone has a brown they would be willing to let him use for a bit it would be ideal. Otherwise it would likely be black.

I had one of those dinky cup holders on my 60 series (84). But over all the console isn't worth keeping. That is if you don't want an arm rest.

I had a custom console made years ago. Elbow height an all. To me it sounded like a worthy investment.

The idea and product look good but what you will find with a large majority of the 60 community is that the center console is one of the first things to go. I have not had mine, though I still have it in the garage, since about 6 months after I purchased my 60.

I think most either end up ponying up the cash for the big CCOT Tuffy or go cheap, like me, for the SmittyBilt. There are those few that have built their own. Both the CCOT and Smitty both have the same problem that the console itself is not bad, but the cupholders are HORRIBLE!. The retention arms on mine were done after about 4 months of use.

I don't understand why companies have such a hard time building good cup holders, they are the easiest thing to make, mine are just 3" holes from a hole saw and they hold everything very secure, from travel mugs with a handle to Tim Hortons coffee cups.

The stock 60 cup holder is garbage, it's good for a can of pop or a small water bottle. Very tippy and too close together to hold 2 of anything

I just keep my beer between my legs.
*sees wide open door* That's because there isn't anything else occupying that space!!! *giggles and runs away*

Yeah but you did a phenomenal job building yours... Wish I had a small table saw to build my own, I SUCK at cutting straight lines with my circular saw. One of these days I will design something myself like what you got there. Truck is impressive as always dude.

I guess I should give an update on this project. I had a member offer up their entire gray console. Once I have it I will start working on finding a color match and working on a rear double cup holder to go with the front double. The front double design you see above is just a super rough idea. The final design will probably be a little more aesthically pleasing. I need to get the body fitment perfect before I focus on aesthetics and layout. Verion 1.0 finished printing this morning. I will get it shipped out for test fitting and pics and will work on 2.0 next week some time. I will get some pics posted on the original prototype installed soon. Just remember that it is an early prototype and not the final product. I don't normally show a product this early on in the design process BUT I guess this time, you guys will get to see the process from beginning to end.

my wife gets Fuji water for her 62.....they come in square bottles :)
