Installed OME nitrocharger shocks (front and rear) yesterday.

If you are inclined to use these, there are a couple of installation gremlins to be aware of. First, you will never get these bushings in (why they don't come installed is beyond me) without a strong vice, some grease, and simultaneous application of push (hammer) and pull (slide hammer) force. Once I figured out a system, they popped right in.

Second, post 1986 60s require special little "bearing sleeves" for the rears because the rubber bushing (shown above) will be too loose on the rear pegs without them. I realized this during install and had to fabricate my own from some specialty washers at lowes.

So, be aware of that. I've only ridden them a short distance, but the ride appears to be a vast improvement.

Just and FYI...they offer shocks for the post '86's under a different part number. Your solution should work just fine though.

Yes, the ARB ordering sheet was about as clear as mud. There was a line item for post 1986 rear shocks (60062 or 60065). The lower numbers are supposed to have firmer valving so I went with 65. There was a also footnote that said "post 86 models accept have a 19mm mounting pin and accept shock part nos. N94, etc". Since it referred to the mounting pin, part numbers were way different format, and post 86 was already on its own line in the shock order section, I assumed this was a hardware piece (the bearing sleeves) and not a separate shock altogether.

Here is the sheet for reference:

You'd Think they could just throw two sets of bushings in there and let people figure it out, but they have to make it difficult.

Yes. I am going to get it serviced, rodded, cored, etc... The cheapo aluminum is a basically a beta test to see if it runs cooler and to chill my ride on an interim basis.

Mine is making a growl when I start it.

Sounds like bad bearings in a pulley. Goes away in about 3 minutes but if I turn it off and recrank it comes back.

Weird.

Vehicles don't do well when you park them for 3 years

I'll wait till it strands me unless it gets worse and can isolate it.

Rocky said he thought he heard it when I picked it up last.

Something that oil is having trouble getting to?

Just a guess but how old is the alternator? Heavy load just after starting or restarting.

Buy you some Kroil and spray everything....it kreeps and get to where it needs the lube.

I've never used it before. Amazon makes acting on tips like this easy.

You can show me how to do it next Thursday when you pass through
