LarryB getting organized

Well, my oil analysis confirmed my suspicions. My 87 2F with 166k needs a rebuild. Since @FJ60Cam wait list is indeterminate, does anyone know of a running 2F that would fit a June of 87 FJ60? I don't want to keep driving her and do more damage. Something within the state or a few hours drive of Oxford MS or the gulf coast? Since I just got her back from being in 2 AC shops all summer, I don't want to take her off the road until I can get a Cop motor an or until I can rebuild her myself. I would like a swing engine to hold me over.

Thanks.

What is the motor doing? I drive mine on 5 cylinders for
10,000 miles.
I recall, but I thought that engine turned into a coffee table...?

The engine smokes bad when it is cold. After 10 minutes of driving, it stops smoking. It also easily burns a quart of oil every tank fill up or two. Maybe more if it does a lot of low RPM work like stops/starts and trail driving.

Compression was fine when I bought it 2 years ago. I haven't checked it lately but #5 and #6 spark plugs show obvious oil deposits after only 6000 miles. All spark plugs have accelerated electrode wear and will consume 0.01" of gap after 6000 miles.

A new compression check is on the to do list, but I thought it prudent to consider my options.

Well obviously a good running 2F is your best choice. Make sure it’s the correct block so all your accessories bolt on.

My suggestion was to keep driving yours until it dies and find a core to build.

@RocketCityCrzrs rebuilds 2Fs as well

Which was exactly my first inclination. I was just worried about doing further cylinder wall scoring.

What rebuild route did you go with the engine in Ole Blue?

If your motor has not been rebuilt you will be fine because it can go up to 1.5 pistons

I got a big box rebuild and it’s crap. Had a dome piston head on a flat piston block.

The block I used to have that was a coffee table is now in my old Pig as a cop motor

Local

I attended App so the sold new in Boone gave me pause; however, that thing looks stupid clean.

Now THIS took some imagination (or stupidity or naivete or youth or convenience or, well, something.........)

For some reason, this one didn't sell for as much as some of the others........................ :hillbilly:

So they took one of the worlds most reliable vehicles and put one of the worlds least reliable drivetrains in it...

OK, sure, sounds like a plan.

I have a set of City Racer headlights with the 60 ballasts he sells if anyone wants to trade me a couple cases of Ultra for them

$33,000 profit in 10 months. Not too shabby!
