Looks like I need to dig up @dnp s rant on wife's permission

When you have more money than God and you want to drop $12K on a truck, you don't need permission.

That's not what happened here though. If my wife pulled the same stunt as 63, I'd be pissed too!

Looks like I need to dig up @dnp s rant on wife's permission

From here:

Hey, a small request from me to anyone who might be considering this truck: If you don't have the ability or authority to make a purchase decision without first getting the approval of your wife (er, I mean spouse), please don't ask me to spend hours of my time to allow you to dream. Case in point: I had two different guys come by to look at it on the same day this week (one who saw it on MUD and one who saw it locally). I spent an hour or so with each of them as they inspected/drove/discussed/negotiated, and when they finished, they both had virtually the same comments, like "this is exactly what I want," "it's in excellent condition," "this is a fair price for a truck in this kind of condition," etc., etc., etc., and "I'm pretty certain I'll be back tomorrow to pick it up (one even offered me a deposit).........but I have to talk to my wife first" Well, "shockingly," they BOTH called me back the same evening (within an hour of each other) to tell me "well, my wife nixed the idea of the truck."

Now, I know every situation is different, and I'm sensitive to the fact that there can be legitimate reasons for not making an automotive purchase; however, if your specific situation just boils down to a case of HER pair is bigger than YOUR pair, PLEASE, PLEASE, look at another truck! (I don't know if it's just the market climate we're in these days, but I've never seen chronic indecisiveness like I see in people these days!)

Thanks for your indulgence. I just had a little rant there.........

@dnp 's followup a couple posts down was also solid gold:

I honestly don't think it was a case of any of that. When someone offers to give me a deposit (and I must admit my own stupidity in not taking it), I believe a person to be seriously interested. I just think these two "buyers" suffer from a far too common, sometimes incurable illness called "smallus ballus proximitus." SBP is a somewhat serious condition in which the sufferer experiences a conspicuous reduction in the size of their balls the closer they get to their wives. As the obvious feminization of America continues, I'm afraid we're going to see a marked increase in the incidence of this debilitating condition.

Been meaning to ask this.

The heat on my 60 works but it's barely warm. Rear heater may be slightly warmer but I'm not sure.

I know thermostat would be the first place to check but I'd rather deal with warm heat in winter than overheat in the summer.

This baby stays cool in the summer. No overheating.

Check the water control valve
Rubber gasket on top of thermostat
Thermostat itself
Coolant level

Granted no two 60 gauges are alike, but that is 180-190 on mine. Should be enough to put out heat. I'd vote the valve that Rob mentioned, low coolant or a clogging heater core.

Make sure that the wire coming through the firewall attaching to the heater valve is opening all the way (ie: the valve is function all the way from open to close). Your control wire might be stiff or stuck a bit.

The temperature gauge is stupid and rarely shows or represents reality.

My bet is thermostat and oring.

Got an infrared thermometer? Check to see what operating temp you're running. I'm gonna guess differently than others. I'm guessing there is no thermostat installed.

That's my guess too thus the reason I hate to mess with it.

Summer cooling is way more important to me.

Give me something to do over this wet 4 day weekend
