I finally finished the door this weekend, which means I got started on the other side! :D

Since I now know how to do it, this side should be much easyer.
I can already see the difference in the precision, eventhough I only got around to fitting the new B-pillar.

modifying is so much more fun than rust:D

Awesome! CAN'T believe I just spotted this thread. Keep up the good work.... and put on some safety glasses eh?

Pretty nice grills behind you as well. Maybe mount one of them to the 60..? Pimped out

UUUUUUPS! I just had to dring of a liiitle bit of paint:whoops: No excuse ofcourse, won't happen again!

very nice , giving me inspiration to fix my rotten quaters ,rockers , door bottoms ect .

Hey man thats looking really cool, a bit like the back doors on a RX7

What are your plans for the roof? did you just remove it to get rid of some rust?

Hey Mudkiwi

Yes, it had the common J6 problem, the roof rots from the inside due to condesation. I took it of and made new gutters. The old roof will be used as a template to make a mold for a new one in fibreglass, stronger, better and insulated!

Hi All!

Here's some update photos, just to let you all know that I haven't abandoned the project. Unfortunately I haven't been able to make much progress the last couple of weeks, but got something done today.
Now I know how I want it, and how to do it, it comes along much easier :)

 to all the winter projects!!!

Keep going, Chris.... We're all watching!! ...

And just curious, but how bloody cold is it there? ... I'm in So. Cal. and I think it's cold now because it's in the low- 40's at night !!!! Brrrrrrrr..... hehehehe.

S.

Was wondering where ya went, looks like your coming along nicely.
Are you going to leave the wheel wells stock?

Hey Spike! Its just around freezing here, that must be 32 Fahrenheit. We have the Golf current to keep the polarbears in the arctic ;) But 40 in SoCal ?? Do you put blankets on the palmtrees? Or am
I just ignorant and thats normal wintertemps for you?

Hey Baxter! Yup! the rear ones right? I have been driving this SUA with 35x13,5" Claws, with zero rubbing in the back, so there's no need to change it.
And before I desided to modify it, the wheel wells were repaired, ALOT of rust replaced, I'm not fond of the idea of cutting it all out again... The original HJ60/61 flares will go on again though.

This of course could all change if you had an idea that I couldn't resist...:D

No, the temps here, now, are not really normal.... It's been bloody cold and wet after getting only 2 inches of rain all year! Usually it's not this cold until February.

Hei Solli

Jeg vil også meget gerne se dine portalaksler på en bil!:D Så mon ikke det skulle kunne lade sig gøre!

And for the non-Scandinavian:

Progress has been slow, too slow! school, work ect. ect. Just had a weeks vacation, but spend it at home with a really nasty cold, Nice!!

But nothing is so bad that none good comes of it (Danish proverb..) Being tied up at home have given me a lot of time to research what to do with the engine. As a lot of you might know, I have started two threads on engines:

And:

Fortunately I felt a lot better today, and the girlfriend could not convince me to stay home anymore, so I spend a few hours on the Juggernaut today, all fabbin' and weldin'. It seem that I am a bit more lucky with the details on this side, I should be, now I've tried it before! :D

thats gonna be one sick rig! what are you gonna do with the roof, I think I just noticed you chopped it off????

Hey Dazza,Thanks!! The roof has been cut out because it was rusted out from the inside. Since TOYOTA wants 2,500$ for a new one, I will make it my self! I have kept the old one and will make a new in fibreglass. Stiffer, better and insulated!!!

I think it might be time for an update!

I haven't been able to get anything done from before christmas up until now.
But I should not complain, the main reason is that my girlfriend moved permanently in with me, and we had to sell her apartment. It all went ahelluvalot lot smoother than expected (Not easy to sell houses and apartments here right now)
Of course it did have some negative side effects... All her stuff that wasn't going to my apartment ended up at the shop:rolleyes:
But a good weekend with sorting and getting thing a little better organized helped a lot!

SO! ... I spend the sunday dedicated to the Cruiser, I had to make the bottom the drivers side of the suicide-door, it took a long time, but turned out OK!

Since I have only the most basic of metal working tools, no bender ect. I use a lot of small patches and a hammer alot! I try to weld everything end-to-end, not just for looks, but to avoid makíng too many rust traps.

The last pic has nothing to do with body work, but I couldn't help it! It is my new TURBO next to the old one (the oldbeing the one on the manifold) It is a VGT Turbo of a Mercedes Benz E-class320 V6 CDI from 2006, and it looks brand new! 310€ wich is 456$:D
