Hi all!

First I would like to say: "Wauh!!!" I have just found this site and I did not know there were a place on the net with such enthusiasm and knowhow about the LandCruiser, so to all fellow Cruiserheads; Thank you!

I would like to start a thread about bodymodifications on the 60 series, what you have done and what you have seen.

The reasson for this is that I have gone a bit overboard with the grinder and the welder;) As you can se in the pictures below:

If there is any interest in this or the rest of my build I will be happy to write more about it.

HJ60 with

renovated/galvanized frame

complete body rebuild

HJ61 axles with factory lockers

5 speed TC

Original TOYOTA electric winch

OME springs/shocks

Etc....

Best regards Christian

More pics!! Whats the intended use of the vehicle? Expedition vehicle?

And i see the roof is cut out... Pop-up? spider top?

He cut out his entire roof, we should link this to the sunroof thread

Please write more about this. I wish I had the cajones to get into something like that.

More pics too. is it bobbed?

Beaufort-fj60:
No, it was white, Euro-style as yuo can see from the first picture. Btw its a 45 degree hill :)

Yes! suicidedoors instead of the rear doors. In Denmark we have a "funny" tax-system on cars that means that ordinary cars with rear seats are taxed 180% whereas wagons are only taxed 30%. Which means that there are next to none 4x4's here with rear seats. So I am converting it into "panelvan". I am going for a look between an armytruck and a US-style moneytransport:D
You can see some of it in the next picture

dtrain:
Part expedition, but I have to drive east of Caucasus or south of Gibraltar before I really need a real expedition rig, it will be more RV but with the possability to take the gear out for offroading/daily driving.
The roof has been cut out because it was rusted out from the inside. Since TOYOTA wants 2,500$ for a new one, I will make it my self! I have kept the old one and will make a new in fibreglass. Stiffer, better and insulated!!!

updates will follow, and questions answered! But I am no tech- or weldwisard, just a guy who doesn't knowe any better!;)

Sorry about the pic size, but I am not "allowed" to upload any more...

keep us posted on the build, looks like a unique setup

Keep us posted. You can either buy a star or host your pics to another site and then post them here.

Looks like an interesting build!

I have bought silverstar now, thanks for the tip!!

A little more work done, as you can se.

To make the suicide rear doors, I bought 2 B-pillars from a s****ped car and reversed them, left side right and vice versa.
Then i took the rear doors and reversed them too. Bolted them to the pillars and matched them to the original B-pillars, this took some tinkering!
After that I cut the original pillars and started fabricating the locks for the new suicide doors, i reused the old doorlocks and relocated them to the bottom of the original pillars. This works fine, but I have to come up with a lock mechanism for the top.
Since then I have almost completed closing up the rear of the doors, a little bit wavy, but again, Im no pro:)

Wow!!

jvazques53: I hope you aren't too shocked

MyHJ60Shiela: So have I! ;) But I have an idea of what i want, and I think I'm getting There :)

Got a few hours in today, closed up the passenger doorhandle and did some more work on the suicidedoor, mostly detailwork, but got halfway with the windowframe.
I have made the hole in the suicidedoor so that it almost fits the original small windows from the passengerdoor. My plan is to make new edges around the old frame and glue (do you call it that?) the window in place from behind. this way there will be no gab between the body and yhe glass, so less opportunity for rust :)
I got two of the edges done, the bottom one is aqngled because I want a small narrow window where the old one was in the back, but up near the gutter.

The first pic is my girlfriend holding the original glass, just to se the fit, remember there are two more egdes to be made

The second just shows the progress on the truck

Christian,

Where are you located in Denmark? I spent a few weeks in Borkhavn last summer. My mother was born in Odense, so we went back to see the rest of the family, 80 or so people that I had never met before. My dad's family is from Svendborg if you go far enough back (somewhere around 1860 or so).

Nice rig, can't wait to see it finished.

Bigred.

BigRed,

Thanks! I live in Copenhagen, but my grear-grandfather was from Odense, he was chief of police in the 30-40 i think. I hope you enjoyed your stay here and saw some of the sights, Did you visit Copenhagen?
great that you took the trip!
I have never been in the US, but will go some day!!!

As MyHJ60Shiela said:
I'm having trouble envisioning this finished...

So I did a quick sketch of the idea:
