I've got the perfect 60 for a pick-up conversion. It's already built and has roof/C-pillar damage on the driver side from a half roll into a telephone pole.

Right now it is slated to be parted into my 84-60 and a dead 87 I have. BUT, I have been considering pick-upping it. It is already built with OME, ARB, ARB rear bumper, custom front winch bumper, Aux Fuel, desmogged, weber, header, and all sorts of other stuff. It was my first cruiser I owned/built thus I know the parts in it and know it wasn't offroaded at all after I sold it, so things are in good condition.

I can't afford to keep it (I don't need to own 5 cruisers). It has a damaged title, but in Oregon, if things are remanufactured you can remove the cloud on the title, at least I've done that one time already without a hitch.

So if I do this, my project changes from wrenching to body work & paint. Hard costs into the project would be something like $2500+new parts+paint+misc+labor/profit.

Ideas, thoughts & critique appreciated

Bob

Do it. I can't think of a better use for a truck with that damage. I'd love to have a 60 pick up.

Go for it!! I would love to see a 60 pickup.

Here is the perfect 60 pick up. I was going to copy it but I sold the 60 I was going to cut up.

A few more of a cool ride. I will do this to a 60 eventually, I love the concept and execution.

If you need some encouragement, search for the build thread Tapage did. It is pretty step by step on how to do it.

I've followed Tapage all the way through. I've got the machine to sew all the canvas, but I'm thinking Pick-Up rather than topless. And no -I'm not dropping my other HZt engine into the pick up - or if I do, I'll definately have to think hard about letting the 45 go. Bob

Or, do I make it a more traditional pick-up rear end and cut the entire body, rear panel on the driver compartment and bed on the rear? Stitching the rear lift gate on does make things a little easier.

Here's my vote (horrible photo chop), but you'd need another 60 to graft to it... More of a family hauler than a wheeler.

I like the Xtra Cab concept, but I think that I'd separate the bed from the cab if the bed and wheel base are going to grow any.
