driving around last night i found a 60 for sale in town.
it looks to be in ok shape.

the closest i could get was a quick, drive-around-the-block-drive-by.

she quickly reminded me that "i have enough toys" and that i "have a 60 that needs fixed."

so i thought i would post as advisment here, hoping somebody would be interested so i would have an excuse to go get a closer look at it :flipoff2:

make sure ya check out the frame... i lived in PA til a lil while ago an bought my fj60 and the 22 years of road salt ate my frame to hell...but now im in the south and cars rust from the top down unlike the north where they rust bottom up..

I'm with lowride. I had an 83' 60 that had a rusted through frame. Of course I didn't realize that until I was $$$ into the bad engine. So I scrapped it. I live in Mechanicsburg, PA and it was a PA truck. On the brighter side I learned my lesson. I now have a 85' 60 imported from Wyoming. Now I know what "No Rust" really means. It has a few issues but the body and frame are great

ughh thats my next project..dropping the tank and cutting out the rust to install new channel..new cross member and bumper...thats gonna be some work..

i lived in lewisburg for a few years and i bought my truck when i lived in williamsport when i went to college...i found out how bad the frame was when i was beating the hell out of one of the spring pins while working on the spring over...the rust just felll out above it and i had to patch over it with 1/4 inch steel...

oh and the frame is nearly perfect up front but once ya get away from the oil slinging 2f its all down hill

i snuck out to get look while she was at work :D

speaking of work......

this ones going to need some.

the frame is scary bad, one would HAVE to be afraid to move this thing with anything less than a rollback wrecker.

the frame is rusted almost completely around the rear spring hangers.

the inside portion of the frame rail is completely gone for a good 8"-12" around the hanger.

on the outside of the frame around the rear hanger, the hanger is just about completely rusted off.

it's like this BOTH sides!!

the only thing holding the frame toghter, is basicly the body.

if you would start banging that thing down the road, in short order the rear wheels would be in the back seat.

the shock mount crossmember is also about to go AWOL also.

front spring bushings are gone, the pins riding on the spring it's self.

PO tryed redoing the carb, it does not run at the moment. as well as it needs the in/ex manifold gasket replaced.
it's an '86 with 192,xxx miles. the guy(used car dealer) wants $1000-1500 for it.

i already have a 60, that turned into a project/money pit.

alittle bit of 10GA and a welder with some elbow grease, and this might not be a bad deal.

Fawk no, if the rust is that bad and the engine is beat, what do you want it for?

Tell him the frame makes it undrivable, unfixable, and unsafe, and since the engine ain't turning, the best you can do is $400. :D
