Looking for some guidance;

I finally got back to this project after shelving it for 2.5 years. The consequence for putting it off this long is the parking brake. SOR no longer makes a kit for the split transfer. So need to discuss other options.

?1) Is converting the rear brakes to FJ60 feasible?
?2) does anyone have a parking brake conversion kit available?
?3) anyone have the rear output adapter/plate that contains the speedo gears? This split T-case did not come with one.

thanks

More info would be helpful IE year, what is wrong, pictures etc. I have an 81 and the pbrake is independent of the tcase. i think it is for the 79-84's. might want to look into that.
Hi Ambrew,
sorry. I got a split Tcase. It's an early 80' FJ40.

79 still got one piece case , split case start in 80 or 81 not sure.
so you have 4 option

1- late 40 rear axle
2- tsm t-case disc brake
3- rear disc conversion with eldorado caliper
4- try to find factory late t-case parking brake oversea or e-bay or ...

Hi Jim land,
Thanks for the reply. Rear disc conversion is a good idea. Can you clarify TSM?

Curious how this will work with the larger under the tub gas tank (79+). I think even if you found a drum or disc hand brake to go on the transfer case the tank may be in the way unless your going V8 and it all moves forward. I haven't been able to find a H55F with the correct 40 series top plate but if I do I'm will go with a 40 series rear axle with the hand brake.

For reference 8/80 (81 model) was the start of the split case and when the hand brake moved to the rear axle in the US market.

I have done a few of the rear disk conversions with the brake and love the results. Its pretty straight forward and you end up with better brakes all around.
