Bought my '14 LC with 7k miles on 2-14. Now at 8k. Prior to the purchase, I didn't make it 150 miles before my BMW 650 coupe I bought broke down (twice) within 24 hours. This was my 4th BMW.
My bmw odyssey is chronicled on their forum, but I've never been happier to both give back a $94k lemon, and pick up a truck on 2-14 that I know I'm going to love for the long term. Feels in some ways like my 2000 Explorer I had in school that I put 135k miles on with $80 in unscheduled maintainence over that time. Truly a world class car I'd love to have back
When you have that moment... When your 24 hour old $94k bmw 650 misfires and breaks down on the interstate hours after purchase (never pushed over 3k rpm or abused) ... Making eye contact with the passenger as you both make the "oh s***" moment together, and again, repeating the event 24 hours after it was "fixed" by BMW, you easily take a deep appreciation for both beauty in simplicity and Toyota quality. I was looking at an LX before I pulled the trigger on the 650 (my dream car). After it all played out and I found the LC I ultimately picked up.
In the end.... Being in a spotless $94k BMW, anxiously awaiting a tow truck, is a pretty darn humbling experience and I thoroughly appreciate the quality the folks in Japan offer
As a southern football fan, I have immediately implemented football tailgates and drive-in movie parties as a result of my new purchase.
I think I'm going to like it
