I have a 2013 Land Cruiser with a 5.7 v8 and an AB60f automatic transmission. Randomly and occasionally (a couple times per week) it will hit failsafe mode while accelerating in 1st gear. Throttle is reduced to approximately 50%, and transmission will not shift into 5th or 6th gear. If I get past 1 and the transmission is in second gear it will not hit limp mode. When this occurs it usually will immediately shift into 2nd gear, likely due to throttle reduction and reduced load. If I use the button to start in 2nd gear it never happens.. No codes are stored, and no warning lights and not even a dash flicker. There is no specific pattern or reason that I can find for this occurrence and I cannot duplicate on demand. It seems completely random. I have checked every ground connection for the engine and chassis-ok. All measure less than 0.05v drop loaded. I have a Speedometer calibrator installed inline, and it makes no difference if it is installed or removed, the problem is the same. I thought it was engine ECU so I replaced it-no change. I did not notice this till after 4.88 gears, so I bought an HP Tuner and changed the axle ratio to 4.88. No change. The only way to get it out of failsafe is slow down till the transmission shifts back into 1st or 2nd gear with 0% throttle application. After it shifts back into this gear I can accelerate with full throttle response and all gears. I have tried cycling the ignition while coasting down the highway, but it is still in failsafe mode upon engine restart. Has anyone run into this, and do you have any ideas for solutions?
