just wondering if i can swap the centers over as stout came with the option of 6.1 to one
talking to a copple of retired diffspecialest they fit but need to mod the pumkin due to the crown wheel size
is this true as it would save me a fortune

this is the info they had in one of their books

TOYOTA LANDCRUISER,
STOUT
55,60,76
SERIES
80 - 87 WAGON,UTE,REAR,LATE,L/O,F/SPL 9X37,10X37,6.1

and another question as some one i know needs help
Wow.
I have patrolled the web for ages looking for someone who is trying to do this. I have a 6.1 ratio stout diff shortened and mounted in a tractor pulling application. I am running shortened Landcruiser axles as they are a bit harder than the stouts. What I want to do is use a four pinion ( open or LSD) Landcruiser carrier/pumpkin as well as my stout crown wheel and pinion. Why? Landcruiser only offer 5. somnthing to 1 ratio otherwise I would do a complete swap. (I need all the help I can get to make the little chev get on the cam and stay there).I can also purchase sun/spider gears for Landcruiser easily and have a few stout crown wheel sets spare, try buying stout spares!!!!!!!!
Is the carrier smaller in the Lancruiser or are the bolt PCD different to the stout?

I would love to hear from anyone who has done this. I dont want to run a 9 inch.

My Auto students at school need this thing mobile for the start of the new pulling season so any info would be great.

Regards

thanks jono

LC only offers 5. something ratio... really? in what model?

can't help yah since stouts were never sold in Canada...(that i know of)

really? got a link to those gears?

the only LC gearing i know of is:
3.70
4.11
4.30
4.56
4.90

if you know of factory LC gearing that is lower than that, let us all know. i am interested.

I think there were some Portugese BJ7* with 5 something ratio diffs, the ones with the Italian made diesels.
We had an owner on here once who gave us the info off his plaque.
I seem to remember they were made for use in mountainous areas.
