Hi all ,
Whilst on the hunt for a Landcruiser Cygnus (LX470) here in Indonesia, I noticed different looking brake master assembly on one of the cars I had shortlisted. To me it looks like the one from a 4Runner or 120 Prado (or GX470). I guess that after the OEM unit failed, the owner either tried to save money or couldn't get hold of the correct unit and so used this instead.
Question is -iss this a major red flag and I should avoid the car, or would it work the same?
Please see the screenshots below.
Thanks for any help!

Do you have any error messages such as ATRAC etc? or these light turn on with ignition on and goes out upon strting the engine?

Good question - I am told all is normal, but will check warning lights and obd faults myself when I see the car this week.

Well, the 100 and the GX/120 use different master cylinder plungers... which means the bore size might be different. There are also VSC and non-VSC master cylinders.

I've been to Bali a couple of times and I never saw a 100 on the road. Mostly those hideous Kijangs :). It's no wonder they did this. A new master cylinder probably costs the average person, 3 months salary.

Yep I'm interested to see how it was installed. As far as I know, all the GX/120s here have VSC also. The pump motor definitely looks a bit smaller though - would this mean a less effective system?

You're right, not many in Bali - but lots of FJ40s. The 100s are mostly found in Jakarta, where they live out their days as mall run cruisers, sadly...

I would say more than 3 months salary! 😬
