image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg so after spending much time on this subject, years actually, I made the move back to a LC type vehicle last year. It had been 5 years since I had owned the 2000 LC, I was missing it and was tired of the wife being absolutely terrified driving the lil A4 Audi I had replaced it with! So I started looking for a GX470, I am a fan of the 4.7 V8, and really my wages could not handle anything newer than a 2008, so here it is 3 months of looking for a GX, one horrible experiance on CL on an awesome rig a guy pulled out of the deal at the credit union, then bang, it happens, at the dealership literally across the street from work, a well taken care of '06 GX470 with 84,000 miles. Sport package, very clean, right color, the wife is thrilled, she is back in the saddle! As I continue driving my '04 Tundra, I realize that I am completely jealous, then I spend a week hunting in MT out of my buddy's new Jeep Cherokee, had a blast, so then it's like, why should I continue to drive this really nice truck when I could drive a really nice GX or LX or LC!
So my own search started in November, it took till the end of January till I found a really nice clean '07 LX470 in Bend, OR. It was a one owner, super clean, non smoker, no pets, rear seats look new, maintenance records, all of it, I even had my mom go look at it since she lives 2 miles from the dealer, she says, yep it's Jason worthy! So we buy it and pick it up, I told the wife this one was mine, that lasted a day, she was like, this ones just like my LC, can I keep it? Lol, sure, so here we are, two newer Lexus SUVs, and a Tundra, well, I listed the Tundra and it sold to the first guy to look at it! By by Tundra and welcome GX470!!!
So I have added new Falken Wildpeak A/T tires and took the steps off this weekend, looking to add several other items to get it ready for the MCGruder trail in August then another hunting season in MT! So far I love my GX470!

Nice rigs!

How does the LX compare to the GX for interior space, person comfort? They don't look that different in exterior size, how different do they feel?

LX has 10 cubic feet more cargo room. Mostly the same otherwise.

Well there is a reason the wife took the LX or the GX! Ride quality, room, comfort, interior, its all a step up over the GX. I have been riding and driving in both and can tell you that the LX is a better ride, smoother on the bumps, definitely a pavement king! The seats are a tad bigger and wider, so the comfort level is one notch better. The interior is the beige with taupe dash, beautiful trim, cream leather interior, cream carpets, a real nice ride. It seats three people in the back seat much better than the GX, I have already done it in both rigs, so hands down there is more room in the LX, also more room in the cargo area, its a bit deeper behind the third row of seats. So far on the one road trip it got 16.2 mpg.
The GX is a sportier ride, takes the corners better, less body lean, this one has the Sport Package so its trimmed in black burled maple, and a stainless steel type dash trim, looks very tough, gray interior, gray carpets, so I appreciate it for its more physical appearance. It is going to make an awesome off road, hunting, camping, rig. I got 19.5 mpg on a drive to Tri Cities and back, so its better on fuel, pretty sure that's due to weight, it weighs I think close to 600 pound less than the LX.

For anyone looking for this comparison, I'm not saying Finnman is wrong, because everyone has an opinion. However, I've got a 100 series Land Cruiser (and just sold an '03 LX470), and my experience has been exactly opposite. While the LC/LX is definitely larger/roomier, I find my GX (my second one) to be much more luxurious, and it it rides noticeably better than either of the 100s. In fact, I can say that my GX (with Toytec lift) is the best riding on and off road vehicle I've ever had. I do like the fact that the LC/LX is a little bit larger inside, but other than that, the GX checks all the other boxes.

Again, I'm just offering another person's opinion.......

I can agree with what dnp stated, however you are driving a modified GX, so from a comparison stand point, comparing two vehicles that are both running factory shocks, suspensions, tires, I think the end results might be more true for someone else to use.
The LX is running Michelin Latitude tires, the GX is running the Falken Wildpeak AT, both factory sizes.
I can attest to the fact that the GX is luxurious, just not to the same level as my LX. As I said, I let the wife take the one she wanted, she did this after driving both and riding in both, the LX won, that leaves me with the loser GX! Poor me! Lol!

LX's of the same year are softer and more comfortable then the GX. It's not a huge difference but it's noticeable. The GX just looks more modern until you move up the the most recent version. Older LX's just looked dated for the time they were made.

What you call dated, I call classic! Just another mans opinion. :)
I hate the newer grills and body styles on both the GX and LX, past 2007 I think they went weird.

GX went weird in 2012'ish. Not exactly sure but the first year or two of the GX Gen 2 was OK. Not great. Just ok. I prefer the Toyota LC to the Lexus LX 470 at the later years. But in 2006 for instance I just think the GX looks modern and the LC looks dated. I can see how you would call it classic. Because it really does look like it was designed 10 years prior. Not bad.
The newest GX and LX just look like some sort of Plastic Fantastic Grill Experiment.

I can't compare the lx to the gx, but I have a 99 lc and a 2007 gx. The biggest difference to me that makes me choose the lc is the cabin feel it's much more spacious and your driving dynamics are far superior. Meaning sight lines and angles and what not. The seats are also much more comfortable in the 100. I like the gx but imo it doesn't compare to the 100 overall it feels much closer to the 4Runner which it essentially is.
