I found here an adjusting procedure info .. but I can't find it right now .. In your 1FZ egines you hgot 3 cables .. cruiser, other one and one at bottom that is the throtle adjuting cable ..

Is the same as you said kick down cable . ?

Yea that's the kick down cable. You need it or your tranny will not shift any where near correctly.

If your tranny is shifting too soon, then adjust the cable to make it "longer" or vise versa if the tranny is shifting too late.

I don't know a whole lot about the H442 tranny specifically, but I do know that on the later computer controlled 442/343 trannies here in the states have the hydraulic fluid pressure to the plates regulated by that cable as well. At idle the pressure is low so that the tranny doesn't slam into gear. Pressure to the plates increases with load. With the cable disconnected the tranny will think that the engine is still at idle and the fluid pressure will be too low to keep the plates from slipping... could smoke them.

BUT... I have never seen the exact tranny you are talking about so I would verify the truth/BS factor of the above before doing anything.

Just an idea .. so I'm working ( for a moth ago ) in my shifting points. So right now and after many positions my cable is at top right. But my tranny until make shifting under 40 km/h 3rd to 2nd and 3rd agian and 2nd again ..
