My roommate is looking for an 80, specifically a 40th. He said he saw one yesterday that had the woodgrain with the 40th emblem, two-toned leather seats, but no lockers.

Then today, he said he saw a 40th, white, with lockers.

I thought all 40th were that grey/silver color and all 40th had lockers. Am i wrong?

There is a Collectors Edition, and there is also a 40th Anniversary Edition, they are not one and the same, that might be the difference.

I think it is more than that... but I don't know. I'm sure one of the CE or 40th owners will pipe in with the difference.

Collectors Edition does not have two tone leather or 40 Anniversary badging on the front fenders, or 40th serial # emblem next to shifter, or 40th Anniv floor mats, or the Auto heat/ac (like the Lexus). Collectors has Collectirs Edition Badging, Collectors Edition floor mats, and was availible in more colors.....I think thats it but am sure if not someone will complete it.

Interesting, thanks CDan. I'm just trying to make sure he buys a true 40th and not one that someone has put the badging on. But he's definately getting one with lockers, just not a green one cause that's what i have. Can't have two green 80s sitting in the driveway.

If it is any color but green or sage it IS NOT a 40th. If it does not have tu-tone tan leather guts it IS NOT a 40th.

There was a 40th option that included those things discussed (tu-tone seats, Auto A/C, badging, etc.) Those vehicles did not have all options. For example, Junk's 40th does not have the factory rack (lucky guy.) Many/Most 40ths and CE's did not come with the diff lock option. I've heard of one without running boards.

I just bought my 40th anniversary and it was one of the few that I found that does not have running boards or a roof rack. IT does have lockers though. Oh well, a few less things to throw in the junk pile as I begin modifying.

You got a lucky find and saved yourself the price of front mud flaps and the hassle of dealing with the roof rack. And with lockers to boot!!! Nice score.

Don't forget to look for 1st and 2nd anniversary LX450's All LX450's got the climate control and 6-disc CD changer (with sub baby!!). Lockers are just as hit or miss, I doubt you'll find a LX450 without running boards, roof rack, etc...since they were loaded up pretty good...

I need to put a "2nd Aniv" sticker on mine..

To top it off I got it with low miles and for $8500 thanks to a dealer mistake in their ad. It was owned by an elderly gentleman who worked as an exec at toyota. Most all service records, but ive still gotta catch up on a few.

Depending on how low miles, the entrepreneur in me says put that thing on eBay immediately, make a cool $10k profit, buy another, and use the profit to get one-each Slee-toy.
