Just purchased a 40th edition. Has all the markings to be one but my serial number is 4983.

I read that 4700 ish 40th's were made. Any information on this?

4.) Not sure, Totaled at 44k miles in 2000. 2nd owner replaced the front axle and painted the left side the put 233k miles on it
5.) KS

Just purchased it and scrubbed it up today in 35 degree temps. Insurance total at 44k miles in 2000. Repaired, loved and maintained for 21 years by its second owner. I chased it for FOUR years before the owners "settled" for a 2004 Land Cruiser. They still miss this 80 but wanted me to have it to ensure it would be restored. Project begins today. Total OEM stock except the lift and tires.

  1. Extreme detail/paint correction
  2. Oil level sender repair
  3. Slee lift
  4. BFG's
  5. New OEM-style leather
  6. One small rust spot to repair
  7. New wood grain
  8. Wheel recondition

The original engine uses and leaks a bit of oil but runs strong and quiet. I have an LS2 swap action plan in place if the engine gives up. I figure the salvage title history gives me a license to play with it a bit.

Hi all,
Anyone know where to source one of these bad boys?

Anyone have an extra they’re willing to sell in exchange for my first born?

I wish I had mine. 😔
Bummer man. Figured I’m not alone. I want one but won’t lose sleep over it. I’m thinking of building out my 40th to be used not displayed in a museum. Figured I’d try to source one for SnGs

Obviously the numbered badges were unique. However, you could buy the same badge with no number from Toyota (in the US) until they became NLA.

@cruiserdan posted the old part number many years back, if I recall.

Several good reproductions of the apron emblems available…never known/seen anyone reproducing the dash emblem. I’d think it would be easy enough…probably a lack of interest though. Miss my 40th…

40th SN - arbitrarily 1339 (see posts above)
Mileage: 172K
Color - Sage
last 6 of VIN - 170707
State sold new - TX is my best guess based on Toyota owners website and service history
State located now - TN

Found one. Paid a stupid amount for it. Pound sign: worth it.

The technology that exists now would probably allow a local trophy shop to engrave a nice replica version of this badge. Just a thought.
