Inquiring minds are wondering... How driveable, useable would a 60 with 40's on it be? I'm looking to only mod my 60 once. I know its a long shot for that to happen but I'm just seeing what would be needed.

i took brokenparts advice on tires and went with the irok's in a 39.5 as well, with 4.88 gears, longfields and poly performance rear shafts of course.

It is still very driveable, but for a daily driver not so practical, but definately doable. No regrets here, just a few bugs to work out.

Weak-Link and Freds40 both have pretty detailed build threads on thier 60 series rigs.

(I was searching for Poly performance axles when I ran across this post)

Well I know it's an old thread but here's my thoughts. Mine drives great around town and does great in the hills too. I'm running the stock 3.73s with an SM465. I drive the 465 like a 4 speed and it does fine. First to second is a quick shift but I never thought it wouldn't be. I still feel the key to the drive ability of my truck is the carb after Jim C got his hands on it.

I have this and my tow rig that I swap between for driving duties and I never hesitate to jump in the Cruiser for a day of errands.

I agree. I wouldn't drive it on a cross state drive but running around town and to work now and then is completely do-able.

Actually I plan on driving this thing around as much as possible. I'm planning a trip to the high desert (roughly 6hrs. each way) and it will be driven to the trail as well (1.5hrs. away roughly) Chances are decent of this turning into my daily driver.
