Hey everyone,
My name is Adam and we’re some recent transplants from WV out to Helena. I got into cruisers about 4-5 years ago and have been hooked ever since. Coming from the east coast they’re a little harder to find, especially not completely rotted out so I’ve been pretty excited seeing all the ones around here. I currently drive a 62 and an 80. I’ve already had the pleasure of meeting @3_puppies which was great and an incredible resource of knowledge and parts. I’m hoping to get down to some of the meetings sometime to meet more of you all, and out on some trail rides in the near future!View attachment 3700996

Awesome , that's a great dup...what's it like driving that 60 series ? Ive been so focused on the 100 and dont look around too often but lately ive been thinking itd be awesome to get into an older cruiser to just fart around with ...I assume itll most certainly turn into a bigger project , unless i pay more and get something road worthy

I’ve always been partial to the 60s and 62s. Not sure what it is about them but they just put a smile on my face to drive them. I’ll admit they’re not the most practical for daily driving and such but still can’t beat the cool factor for me. I found the 80 to try and keep somewhat stock and just run around in but I figure it’ll turn into a project like all of them do lol.

Hello everyone,
My name is Will and we moved to Helena last year. I moved to Missoula in 2008 and have been bouncing around since. I have a '08 Trail Teams FJC and use to offroad frequently around the country but life got in the way. We would like to get back into it and meet some new people!

Looks awesome, **** I love seeing some dirt bikes in the mix too. Great looking truck and what a funny tag line, lol . Meh, trucks are more fun than money in your pocket anyway.

Hey do Yall have any recommended shops around billings? overland in Bozeman is a little far, I have to do an Oil pump gasket/crank seal and don't really have the time to do It myself, I'm planning on doing the front birfs myself next month as that's when ill have a small amount of time to do it and was originally planning on doing it then with them but don't think ill have enough time to do both as its my daily and also don't think I have the right tools to get the crank pully off and torqued on again. So if yall have any recommendations please let me know! thanks again

Hello Cruisers.
Well I dont have a cruiser right know several have passed through my ownership. My current build is a 95 4runner SAS with a ALH TDI Diesel. Been driving it everyday for the past year with a giant grin on my face while getting 28-33mpg. I've been in Montana for 3 years, Relocated from Northern Nevada and have been on MUD before along with many other forums. I currently teach Automotive at Montana Tech and love every minute of it. I will be starting a build thread for my runner and when its done i will be on the hunt for a clean 80 and doing a OM606 swap.

Welcome! Looking forward to checking out your rig at a future club meeting

Sweet rig @dirtytoy! Very curious to know what hardware/tune you're running on your ALH? I've been running an ALH in my LJ78 Prado for about 4 years/38k miles now, it has a GT1749va turbo, 0.216 injectors and a Stage 4 Malone tune. Been great so far, but the tune could be better so I'm in the process of getting a custom tune done, hoping for better mileage and lower temps. Are you running a pyrometer, and if so what kind of temps do you see under normal conditions?

Too bad I didn't know you were in the area before, a bunch of us TDI guys had a TDI conversion meetup and trail run in Helena on Sunday.

I'm using malone also. Had stage 4 then went down to stage 3 plus due to drivabilties issues. On the daily drive to Butte from whitehall, I never see above 1100 egt and that's taking the back pass. Hottest I've seen it was 1200 with current tune. Stage 4 got hotter quicker like 1400 with the vnt17. I know some people may say there isn't no such thing as too much power but with stage 4 and the vnt17 it was for my setup.

Hello all! I have finally got around to getting on here - it's been a whirlwind of a summer. I'm from Bozeman, and had always wanted an FJ40 ever since riding around in a family friends' when I was little. I finally bought a '78 from Stephen at Overland Cruisers late last fall, and he worked his magic over it mechanically over the winter. It's been a blast to putter around town in this year, but she has a long ways to go. Luckily most of what is left to do is body work and small parts, and mechanically is pretty sound. Unfortunately, trail adventures will need to wait until a new suspension is put in...

I plan to get a membership to the club (thanks Seth for being so excited for me to get on board too), and get to some meetups soon!

Welcome @BigSky406 ! Let’s see that 40

I've found the same think with my Stage 4 tune, I can easily hit 1350ºF pulling hills if I don't back off or downshift to 4th. Once I rebuild my front axle and take care of a few leaks I am going to get a custom tune that will hopefully help with that.

Hey Chris! Glad you found your way here. There's a ton of great information in the 40-series forum and lots of local knowledge here too.

Hope to see you at the November meeting. I need to introduce you to Ron. @elkun1 His green 40 is the one that shows up in my photos from time to time.

Hi everyone, I'm Marc in Bozeman.

I bought this 100 series yesterday, started tearing it apart, and thankfully stumbled upon these forums and was surprised to see such a large Montana community.

I'm currently going through all the FAQs trying to educate myself. I'm also putting a list together of all the things I need to work on, which is becoming substantial. Since I'm such a newbie I am receptive to any advise anyone wants to share to help me avoid doing anything too dumb.

I'm pretty sure I need an exhaust manifold as well as several interior and exterior parts. It seems like it's going to be a good idea to keep my eye on the buying/selling/trading thread to try to locate local parts, I'm excited to have found that. Without further ado, here's the current situation:

Hi guys,

My name is Ian and I have lived in Bozeman my entire life. I have just purchased my first running Landcruiser! I attempted to join the world of Landcruiser's when I purchased a 1982 BJ60 back in August of last year. But it turned into more of a project than I wanted. So here I am now. I just bought a 1991 FJ80 from Proffits resurrection Landcruiser's and drove it home this past week visiting the Toyota Landcruiser Heritage Museum along the way. I look forward to meeting the local community here soon!
