The dog was a rental, I was dog sitting for the week. Didn't know I had his pic in the mirror till I got home.
Fuel gauge works fine. I think a full tanker load a gas has been exposed to the gauge. The trip meter is broken.
Got the 80 with 207,000 mi on it.
Most of the oil has been Rotalla T 5w40. Change at about 9000 mi or so.
I have not done head gasket and last owner didn't say it was replaced.
I think it still has the original exhaust on it. Got beat up quite a bit on 21Rd in Grand Junction. Didn't have my lift yet but with the lockers I made it as far or farther than the 40's with big lift and no lockers. Sliders saved me big time on that run.
Have not rebuilt the motor.
Only major repair was some new t-case's/center diffs. I over greased the rear drive shaft yoke when the yoke was plugged. This caused pressure on the t-case which caused there to be major heat in the t-case thus locking the viscous coupler to lock up. I replaced the t-case before I knew that the problem was the plugged yoke
UPS broke the first new t-case on delivery. 2nd new case started to leak, replaced under warranty with a new one. 3rd is going fine. When I took apart the original t-case there was no sign of damage so I am sure it would be still working fine. $2000 mistake.
I did a ton of PM's when I got it and was very anal about PM's and repairs ONLY using Toyota parts. Last few years I have done very little to it other than drive to work with it. It has been cross country many times in the last 4 years when looking for work and moving. It still has plenty of power but does smoke on startup. Uses oil but still with in factory spec.
