If as you say they keep trying, I would consider adding a motion detector sensor that you can turn on with your phone. This might give you a chance to get out there while they work through your obstacle course.

There are other cameras that work on cellular service and send real time pictures to your phone. It would get annoying though waiting 10 months for them to come back.

Then you've clearly never spent time overseas.
Bro you take my comments wayyyyy to seriously 🤣 🤣

I'd add an alarm. That will draw attention and cut down on time to execute a theft. I'd also add a GPS tracker. That will assist in recovery in the event it is stolen. In my opinion, focusing on just making the car hard to drive off is a mistake.

OP, that's pretty cool I've never seen that trans/ebrake lock. GPS tracker is a good idea but I would rather have a few redundancies that don't allow starting in the first place.

I saw a video where someone used a flash-bang inside his truck. Messed the thief up.
With as much time we put into these and how rare parts are getting... i'm ok with thieves taking the room temperature challenge

I have driven to Panama and back three and a half times. Spent up to five months on each trip on the road.

They only people who ever tried to rob me on those trips were the cops.

🤷‍♂️

Cheers

Some may laugh at the plastic snake. I used to work with a guy whose fear of snakes was legendary. One night I brought a plastic snake to work and flashed it at him. He jumped off his forklift and ran the length of the aisle to get away from it. It was a very LONG aisle because it was a huge warehouse. Whoever is trying to steal this ride seems pretty brave, but if he fears snakes, this might do the trick.

Dig, just a general PSA - if yer locking up yer rig with a Club, add in a few more locks just to be sure.

Unfortunately, I have to keep my Cruiser on the street. We have Creepers where I live, and there's one in particular who seems to take a shot at my rig every 8-10 months. They have a full set of toyota keys, a slim-jim, and a jig that can bend the club right off the steering wheel. The last time they spent the night in my drivers seat, they were foiled by the clamp on the transmission/e-brake. They even removed the center console and bent the ebrake to the side 40 degrees or so. (and alas, have put me out of commission until I can afford to replace the lever).

Every time they come back, they're prepared for the next challenge. So I try to stay 2-3 more puzzles ahead of them. Don't describe yer security solutions on this forum, cuz it's pretty likely the Creepers are reading 'em here too! Hang on to yer Cruiser!

I hate to say it, but it seems like you've painted a target on your back. The fact that (presumably) the same thieves are coming back to your rig makes me think they're taking the whole thing as a challenge. Meanwhile, I live about an hour away from Portland and rarely lock my vehicles... though prowling cars around here is likely to reduce one's life expectancy. Hopefully you come up with a solution that doesn't involve turning your car into an IED.

I don't want to hi-jack the OP's thread, but I would be interested to hear how you navigated through those situations.

Panama and the horn of africa are not the same.

Most everywhere I have gone i felt safe overseas, except egypt, parts of israel and the HOA

This has been an interesting read for me.

I was in Portland in 2013, such a nice place back then. Amazing how quickly things change. Yeah, would be nice to wrassle up them horse thieves, but good luck with the Soros sponsored DA. Even if you are 100% right your world is going to be forever changed.

So you live in Somalia or something? Sounds like it's time to leave.
Worse. he lives in Portland.

I think I would choose Somalia over the s*** hole that is Portland now (as evidenced by the very conditions that this thread is born from.)

In all seriousness I would be looking at installing some sort of alarm in the rig to let me know that tweakers are spending their evening in the vehicle getting past the crazy over the top anti-theft efforts that this locale apparently calls for. Then I could respond and deal with the situation.

If they really want the rig, they can back a slide back up to it and be gone in moments. With a wheel lift like the repo guys use, they can be gone even quicker.

Back in the day I often left my keys in the rig. The I started locking about 25 years ago. For the past 15 or more I never lock my rigs at home/the shop, But I think that the dirtbags in our area may have learned from myself and my neighbors that they really don't want to try their luck in our little bit of the world any more.

You could not pay me enough to live in a place where what the OP is dealing with was normal and just had to be endured. :(
