I'm working on a plan to drop a 2UZ into an FJ45LV. I'll be upgrading to later FJ40 disc brake front axle and am starting to think about power steering options. This will be a street truck with very occasional dirt roads, no real wheeling. I'm asking here in the hardcore section because you guys will have a wider range of thinking than in the other forums I think...

These 2 seem to be rising to the top of the list. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

1. Saginaw box etc w/2UZ PS pump
2. FJ60 box etc w/2UZ PS pump

Thanks,
mark

Hi all,

Mark, for the use you have mentioned, I think the FJ60 PS gearbox is the superior choice.

Good luck with the project,

Alan

FJ60 or 80 steering box with 2uz pump. You can get fittings from PSC to build the hoses.

I WOULD prefer to stay all Toyota... With the 2uz and all... I dont know the 80 series box. Is it different or better than a 60 box? What about using it with a 40 axle... Rods and such?

Cool info... thanks, just what I was looking for. I'm not concerned with more assist, in fact with the narrower 40 series the greater assist MIGHT be a bad thing. I DO like the info about fewer leak points BUT I'm not really worried as this will be a street rig with 33 ATs or MTRs of some sort.
