How much stuff is going to TX? that's gonna be one heavy a$$ trailer! lol

Let me start off by saying this is a hypothetical, what is this worth question?

Let me further explain, said truck exist and I am talking to owner.

IF one was to acquire the below described truck what is a good offer?

1 owner 1978 FJ40. Stock configuration with everything there. Rotted tires, dust, sitting since about 2004. Tan/original paint.

Rust: passenger quarter panel, rear sill

Used to ride to fishing spots on local lakes. crankability estimate is with new fuel, tires, and battery she would probably start right up based off current owner knowledge/memory.

This would be a Nolen style acquisition: buy, tinker, sell for profit. I further realize I will receive some "SHUSH your an idiot" replies and that "something is worth what it's worth to the buyer" you moron comments....but I'm looking for constructive, what yall see stuff selling for right now estimates...... as an all original/1 owner is not easy to price.

AAANNNDDDDD......go

I'll go first. We ain't helping...

Seriously, how many miles? How bad is the rust? How far are you going to go with repairs? Pics?

No help needed, I won't get in a mess with this one.

Rear Sill is not bad at all, passenger quarter has 3 - 2 finger holes below tail light. 87k

repairs: Pressure wash, 49 (roller) tires, new carb, battery and dizzy at the most to get it driving.

Dash, seats, headliner, sun visors, original console all there.

If you can steal it I'm not sure why you wouldn't just keep it. A 78 is the best year overall and it's not going to do anything but appreciate in value. Oh well.

unlike my last 2 40s: I have realized I am NOT a mechanic, nor will my family fit in it, nor can I justify a 4th vehicle...........

I can bolt on new parts, trouble shoot a little, detail the heck out of stuff #2buckets, and take pictures/write appealing ads.

The goal would be turn a wrench, drink a beer, save a 40 for recirculation, and have fun in the process....possibly make a little $ (#rooftoptent)

just let me buy it

no, noooo ....that's not how this works....I've been working on this truck for 4 years and finally got a lawyer/investigator involved to locate current owner!!

yeah if it's 100% there the top of the market is high.

Tell you what...you get it cheap, i'll restore it, we'll split profits.

That sounds like mine except I have a 90k more miles, original top, no big rust, DUI ignition, and it runs and drives. I don't see mine pulling 12k (if you or anyone you know are willing to spend 12 k or anything close let me know....). For that range people want decent paint or for it to be somewhat built. I say a low mileage original barn find, running and driving, with need of body work could get you 8-9k at most. If I was you I wouldn't expect a quick and easy cash turn. If you want a summer project and fun truck to play with for a short time go for it.

Diamond plate adds 5k!

Seriously need to see pics but you could scan 40 classifieds section for market values.

Getting a 38yr old truck running good that's been sitting might be a little more harder than it looks on the surface.

Truth Jason..... Truth

If it is all original. I would not even wash it....sell it as a barn find. Put it on Bring a trailer for $15k and someone will come for it.

Get Spivey to write a cool ass story bout it hung out with famous people on the banks of Sardis lake and then........you know the words that comes out of his mouth. It will become an internet sensation then the left coasters with deep pockets want it.

JBo for the win.

Its with the son of the owner. Waiting on a call
