Bought this one a few months ago to bring back to life and sell and just could not find the time so I sent it to Missouri today.

I went with a guy today to check out a 40 in Clinton. Owner wants $7000….im sure it could be had for a bit less.

The guy wanted me to fix it up for him but in my opinion if one is paying to have it put back together it’s too far gone.

If you want a 40 you can put back yourself and have a cheap truck this may be ok for you

1976 so it’s a 2F, 4 speed and front discs.

Wow. Not sure if it is inflation or the market but I got my 40 in 2011 for $4k and it was complete and driving…although needed some work. I guess I am just an old man yelling at the clouds now.
 
Pics and number isn’t “jackson” for sure, smells like a scammer.

@wngrog You have fed your snipers with both factory pump to a surge tank and also direct pumps, correct? What are your thoughts and what is your current preferred method? I'm working out a potential plan for EFI on my 78. Also, do you like the factory distributor and coil, look at DUI, etc. Any other recommendations to consider?

Reviving this thread as the time has come for Lash's family to pass his 40 on to the next wheeler. I'm going to post it here locally first for a week or so, and, if there is no interest, I'll re-post it in the main 40 series classifieds section. Specs to the best of my knowledge below:
  • '77 FJ40
  • Original 2f
  • H41 and Orion from @orangefj45
  • 4.88's...rear Detroit, front ARB
  • York on board air setup
  • Saginaw power steering
  • Rear disc brake conversion
  • 37x12.50/17 KM2's (matching spare)
  • HFS 4" suspension...springs flipped for wheelbase stretch
  • 4-plus u-bolt flip kit
  • 4-plus rear bumper with basket and spare tire swing outs
  • Metal Tech full cage
  • IPOR skid plate
  • Fully rebuilt 8274 with Albright solenoids
  • New battery
  • A metric s*** ton of Lash custom mods - sliders, doors, roof skin, seats, KC light can speakers, etc
Truck starts right up, even when cold. 2f sounds like a sewing machine. Steering is incredibly smooth and effortless.

There's a lot of story here...reach out if you want more info on that or on the truck itself. Listing this for the family. I'll field all the questions and deal with all the tire kickers, but the buyer will pay Amanda. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please send them my way.

One other thing - I figure the market for this is somewhere between nonexistent and pretty thin. I asked around for input on the asking price and landed at the starting point above. That said, I’d welcome feedback. I will not be offended if I’m way off the mark; I’d prefer to find out here before listing it in the main section should it come to that.
