Have a late model 40 hardtop.... We are in San Diego and I dont see ever putting it back on...
As said its later style .. ambulance doors and openable vent windows.... It is in really good/great condition...0 rust has been in the garage for the last 6yrs.

Ok to the question......?? whats a good asking price for it? Also have the set of matching ambulance doors??
Thanks for you input.... with 4 cruisers... havent been shopping for cruiser parts..in some time...so arent current with pricing

BTW color is a med grey... not oem color

I dunno but mine is real rusty and I’d sure like a better one. Let me know when you have photos and an asking price!

I am in the market for a late model hard top if its white! Local too. Will PM you my cell #

No clue. I'd ask all I could and the packing/shipping is on the buyer. Good pic's and lots of rust/bondo NDT test in all the usual area's will help get that price.

My guess about $3500-$4000. New fiberglass cap alone from classic cruisers is $2000!!

thanks for the help and info .... obviously Id really like to sell locally or have someone pick up.... Have no idea how you would possibly prep for shipping nor do I have the time or truck to transport to shipper . I'll pull out to get picks soon.... raining.... yes...it does actually rain in San Diego

Factor in its late model and price goes up

Do you have examples of tops and ambulance doors that sold for $3,500? Never heard of them selling that high.
Close to that seems to be going rate for rust free matching set with both sets of doors. There are two examples in the classifieds in past couple years of full sets listed and sold, though we obviously dont know the sold price, we know the asking price. One set in AZ one set in TX when i was researching pricing recently. A red rust free late model hard top only was listed for $2500 locally and it sold quickly here recently. Obviously, things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, but rust free non painted body panels are rare 🤷🏻

I’ve seen lots for sale for that kind of money… don’t know the final sale price though.

About 15 years ago I paid $200 for my ‘81 top. It needed some minor work, but has held well for all these years.

Man removable hard tops on anything are $$$, and it's not better as they get older. I'm gonna wind up redoing the top on the project '69 I have in the yard, but it'll be a minute. It's fine, overall, but needs a new gutter/ frame to tie all the other pieces to due to rust. That piece alone will be $500+ just to get it to my house, and once I've rehabbed it all I can't imagine selling it to someone else for less than a couple grand. And that's probably on the low end.

S2000 hard tops are this way too. People want them because it's a useful thing to have for a convertible in places where the weather's not san-diego-level convertible-friendly, but I still look at them and shake my head. Can't help but go "cmon man - I can buy a whole running car for that somewhere."
