I dont know about Land Cruisers, but I know that if i did this in my old Z-71 the engine would die, resulting in loss of all steering and power brakes. I first figured this out when I was backing up to get another run at the mailbox because I was too far away, and then shifted into D from R before I was stopped all the way. First time Ive ever been able to kill an automatic vehicle....
I know if you started from stop, it would be a little different, but do you want to risk losing steering and stopping ability if the hill is that steep??
YMMV...
