4 Speed Trans Torque Converter Lock Up Speed (1 Viewer)

For those with a Pre '03 100s, what speed does your torque converter lock up under regular acceleration? If I am not getting on it, mine seems to lock up not long after the truck shifts into 4th -almost concurrently. This happens to be around 38 mph. Wondering if this is normal.

I have an '01 4Runner with a 4 speed trans and there is significant space in terms of MPH between shifting into 4th and when the converter locks up (which happens like clockwork at 49 MPH). It feels more like a phantom 5th gear shift.

The lower the speed the better. It will not lock up if you're accelerating.
If the 4 Runner is a V6 it will lock up at a higher speed because the engine has less power.
