Is it true that by doing a spring-over you would actually get a better ridability as opposed to using a 4-inch lift spring? (What I'm looking for is a smoother and better performance ride).

flatter springs ride better than arched springs. Theres alot more to SOA than putting perches on top, just remember that. tim

Does that mean that by doing a spring over I would use the stock springs? And if this is the case , does it mean the ride will be just like the factory set up since it will be using the factory springs? Thanks.

search man search, i see a post on this exact subject atleast once every 3 days. jeez

I tried to do a search on this particular question but could not find it. Does anyone have more info on this issue? Sorry, im not very good in maneuvering myself around this website. Thanks in advance.

Josemari, I see more of a relationship between spring rate/shock valving and stiff ride than I do between spring arch and stiff ride. In other words, a flat or 2" lift spring with a 675 lb. spring rate is NOT going to ride as nice as a 4" lift spring with a 540 lb. spring rate. Atleast two companys (Downey and Skyjacker) sell very soft riding 4" springs, but I'll be the first to argue that nice soft valving shocks contribute alot more to good ride than spring rate.
Now regarding Spring Over, ok if you like that sort of thing. We don't get involved with that since it is not defendable in a court of law---sorry.

Thanks Jim (Downey off Road) for the info. Can I use your 4" lift spring with a shackle reversal in the front.

Are you looking for is a smoother and better performance ride on the Street or Off Road?

What size tire do you want to run?

Shackle reversal is a whole other thread. You front driveshaft will really get some modifications.

I'm for SOA Mine rides like a Cadillac on the street, and it flexes very nice on the trail... with stock springs..

I'm not joking about how it rides on the street..

Edit: I might be special, since I have ridden in other SOA LC's that were a little more rough on the ride..

hey i did the spring over an i really like it the truck rides really soft, and the flex is real good an the cut an turn wasnt that hard , it helps if you get a spare housing so your truck is'nt down so long
