Repost from the FAQ thread

Headers installed by a local shop this week. All estimates were for 13 hours labor, so I went with the guys down the road who work at $60 per hour. As expected, they took the steering linkage off; unexpectedly, they lifted up the engine. So far, so good, everything back in place and seems as it was...

...except for the performance! I had to tow my 6000 lb boat over the mountain today. This is a 1300' climb in about 2 miles. I am happy to say there was a very noticeable increase in performance over 3K rpm. Whereas in the past a downshift to 2nd above 3K kept us moving and always ended up being disappointing at 4K which led to upshifting again to stay in the power, now the downshift accelerated us and kept accelerating well past the speed I wanted to go. Completely different experience at 4K...just kept wanting to give more power.

This is GREAT! Can't wait to see if I can maintain 70 mph while pulling my motorcycle trailer in OD. I think the headers not only fixed my leak, but may have also made up for the -285s and broadened the available power up around 4K rpm.

Thanks to all who worked to put together these group buys and - repeating myself here - thanks to all who participate on this site. I have really enjoyed being associated with you over the past 7 years and have enjoyed all the money I've saved doing a lot of this work myself!

Nice feedback, thanks:cheers:

Is it to late to get in on these?

I'll add you to the list call Nick Monday and tell him your number 16 to be sure. He does make extras on every run

I just emailed Nick back to let him know I'm in. What do I need to do to get in on this group buy?

Great thanks Romer. I'll be calling Nick tomorrow to give him my info.

tell him your number 17:D

Romer,

Any idea as to how many MUD folks have called Nick and left deposits? Just ask to make sure we push this along and Nick isn't waiting on us to hit the magic 15 number for deposits.

We exchanged e-mails today. I had asked him if there was an upper limit and a quick status update and here is what he said

"NO keep them rolling. No real updates as of now. They are in production so once they reach the next step I will pass it on"

I spoke to Nick yesterday to give him my CC info. He says they're about a month out on getting these out, but that's most likely a rough estimate.

FWIW Nick told me the same thing yesterday when I put my deposit down: ~4 weeks. Also asked him about the cat back exhaust they're designing, but didn't get any definites. Anyone else interested in this?

The 4 weeks (or so) sounds like good news to me.

Gents, I have a set of new headers I got from Nic but will not be using them after all. PM me if you are interested. Headers and gaskets. $600 plus shipping.

Has anyone heard any updates, we should be getting close to some of the initial delivery dates I assume?

think we still have a few weeks based on what he told me last month. I am expecting around thanksgiving

I was told 4-5 weeks on 10/18/11 when I talked to him, so hopefully we hear something this week or next week.

Talked with Nick to get a status. They had a material problem with the batch of stainless they received and had to wait for a new order. Things are progressing, but it looks like 3-4 weeks. With the Holidays, thinking it would likely be right before Xmas (My guess)
