I sure know how that feels! The closer it gets the more you find things to do prior to it!

I finally had time to mount the bracket I made last week for the radio.

My list of things to do:

-Replace the output seal on the transfer case (leaking badly)
-New rotors, pads, lines, and fluids.
-Wire in axillary plugs.
-Dual battery system.
-Tech-Flex all wiring.
-Swap rear shocks.
-Oil change.
-Clock winch for feet forward.
-Repaint roof rack and sliders

Ontop of 2 jobs, 5 Cruiser headlight retrofits, full time student, and out planning for the trip.

It will be worth every second. I look forward to completing my list and getting out there.

Looks like my little roof rack clears the garage door by 1/2 inch!

With all the exterior lighting you guys are installing, the camp will be spotted from the moon. We may have to have a light curfew just to see some stars...haha...looking forward to seeing all the cool stuff you guys have...check the fb page, the sponsors are being posted and rounding out to be pretty awesome...every one of them.

My TO DO list:

- Make sure there's a little meat on the brake pads
- Check fluid levels
- Check tire pressure

Random question...

Anyone had any luck powering a hair straightener from an inverter?

I have a ProWattSW600 wired up and it wont even turn on...even though it supposedly only pulls 275 watts.

Even my drill that pulls max 310 watts (under load, im testing with no load) only turns on every now and again, pretty disappointing.

I was wondering about running water! Guess you have different priorities.

no worries, there are make-up and hair kits out there -I'm told- that are entirely manual, no power needed at all... :)

I'd bump #2 on your list up to the top...I'm not a very good shot!

Good stuff!

Those types of things and hair dryers are hugely inefficient and will pull huge amps to boot. We have a very large inverter in our fifth wheel and the wife's hair dryer can trip breakers if other appliances are running at the same time. I'm betting too many amps for the inverter.

HAHAHA this trip is only a few nights in the middle of an almost 3 week camping trip across the west for my wife and I. She...being a woman wants to be able to straighten her hair. So i dutifully tracked down and installed an inverter i thought would work...and well i have failed.

My TO DO list:

* Figure out a shower solution

My suggestions based on many years experience with primitive camping.

1) Bring lots of baby-wipes/wet-wipes. I especially like the Huggies Brand Cucumber and Green Tea scent because they don't smell bad or make you smell like a baby's butt. Use them for your face, pits and nether-regions.

2) Bring a washcloth, bar of soap and towel. Heat water on a stove and give the rest of your body a spongebath.

3) That same heated water can be used to wash your hair.

4) Just accept you will be dirty and use deodorant liberally. Having plenty of clean undies and socks really helps with feeling "clean".

If all else fails, you might be able to pay one of the RV Parks in town to let you use their showers.

Baby wipes are the best thing for camping over a period of time. Oh and: if all this happens, it will be an interesting trip...

I've got a helton hot water shower. If you supply the water/soap, I'll supply the heat and water pressure.

Still don't know how many showers my 19gal tank will last.
