lack of back pressure will most likely results in lost of torque. This engine doesn't like to rev. so low end torque is key. Also in front of the rear tire like the G-wagon? How about clearance when rock crawling?
yeah kinda like the G wagon, but without the gawdy exhasut tip. I figured if i put a long glass pack in there between that and the long 1-1/2" dual pipe exhaust header it would still have enough back pressure. i guess i really need to get it in the garage and lay under there and get some pictures.

I think i could tuck it up high enough now that i dont have cats to still have good enough clearance to have it up above the bottom of the fame and then build some sliders around it to protect it. just seems like the stock exhasut routing has alot of excessive length compared to most vehicles.

You don't need back pressure on the 3FE for torque. You will gain substantial torque and HP even in low RPM's with a properly designed exhaust.

Here's the dyno to prove it:

This is from the old EMSPowered exhaust we used to build for the 3FE powered FJ80. Lots of photos here to give you ideas on how to build yours:

that looks like a sweet setup, thanks for the pictures! I was more or less thinking of just coming strait back after where your cat is and keep it high and tight until right before the rear tire and kick it out. i have a spare parts rig so i might just unbolt what i have now and throw something together to test it. who knows it could be way too loud.

Sounds like you have a good plan. Happy to help with ideas if you have any questions.
