I had a 7.3 IDI and when the glow plug module would go out it would not start with out the glow plugs and used to fail yearly and was located at the back of the intake manifold.

I use to replace the glow plugs yearly as a standard maintenance practice so it was ready for winter. They were easy to get to and change and were not very expensive.

I live at elevation in Wyoming so need heaters and good preheating. I took the rear heater out because it was leaking inside the cab and now I have a new fuel tank and can run the factory piping and hoses to the rear heater anymore. Even at -45 did not notice now having the rear heater the main heater was able to keep up just fine.

I have a new after market heater to install in my 40 because I needed to move the battery to the firewall where the blower motor was. Looking forward to driving it again in any weather conditions.

If your 3b has an air governor replace the diaphragm in that - there will be 2 hoses from the throttle body going to a housing with a 3inch leather diaphragm in it. These are now f.....g old and when they split your engine runs full rich - will be the first time you've never been overtaken, no-one behind you will even see the road. Apart from that the Bs are bombproof tho they tend to shake everything close to them to bits.

Glow plugs are newish. I have no heater so no winter driving.

Maybe you need to check the voltage of plugs you installed and the general health of the glow system.. A 25sec glow is ridiculous.

With regards to the primer pump.. get the bosch unit.. its superb. Readily available from any good diesel place.. Part number 2 447 222 126

This is the first time the engine has started since rebuild. I figure the next start will require much less glowing.
