Hello Gang,
I recently purchased a new alternator through Cruiserparts.net.
I had them send me a used greeen plug and I need to know how to wire it!
Same gauge same colors easy, what to do with the larger white wire left over? The last guy had a hitachi alternator and had different plug set up.
He wired the large white wire from the loom to the top of the alternator.
The new alt is charging appropriately with this wiring however the brake and charge light have come on since hooking it up.
Should I wire the white wire from the loom to the plug white wire and not to the top of the alternator on the post?
We’ve come so far and I don’t want to damage the new $750 alt! Yikes!
Help would be appreciated. My cruiser guy said to tape it off and not use it because the alt is internally regulated and perhaps the charge light relay is bad.
Thoughts?
Thank you!
Shawn

Fixed my wiring issue. Followed the instructions to connect the large white wire to a positive battery source, did so and the charge and brake light went out! Job complete and back on the road!
Yeah!
