The link above is for some 38's I am passing along to someone who can use them.

I have them on my 55 but I'll need to clearance some fenders, sliders, etc and there are other cons about running them on my pig... but, anyone have any opinions on this set up? I am mostly certain I want to sell them but since I am looking at them on the 55 and I drove on them the other day.. was wondering on other's opinions.

The 55 sees to the trail/on the trail/home from the trail action. It's about 2-3 hours round trip with occasional highway. The 38's violate the bumper height and tread exposed laws but I only drive it a 5-6 times a year. I drive the 60 to most events and activities.

I have 77' axles, 4 wheel discs, longfields, aisin hubs, ratchet lockers front and rear, SOA with a couple added leaves anbd cut/turn, 1.5" wheel spacers on aluminum 10's. and 9012's, 4.10's, a large truss/antiwrap bar.

Looks good. I think that we need to see some of you guys with good metal working skills open up the back wheel wells. I would love to go lower with my 37's but I run into the wheel well. If anyone has reshaped the rear wheel well lets see it.

Ryan.

scott as per my PM to you the other day i fully plan to re-work the rear opening.
i just need to figure out how i want to move the axle back.

my thought was to cut the 2.5 " of stock flare off and trim the middle and rear sliders.... but when I flex it looks like I need more like 4-5 " to fully stuff the front and rear. The angle that the tire stuffs is not too bad but I am running 1.5 inch spacers so they do not hit the inner wells at all.

Anyone fit 38's on a full body pig or have ideas? The factory "flare" just does not seem to be enough in my opinion.

i run 36" swamps with 2" BS wheels. i did a little massaging of the front and rear corners thats not even noticable and can fully stuff it with no rubbing. i do want less overhang ultimately and instead of bobbing i will increase the w/b and rework the rear half of the fender. my idea is to cut the well and all at the halfway point then move it back and fill the gap left behind, it would all be a factory look just longer.

my 36's stuffed well also, I trimmed the lip on the front and a little from the back as well but really is was not noticeable... I think that moving the rear axle back would require longer springs, right?

Rhino are you saying reattach the rear half of the 'rear' wheel well back further once you have extended it? Would that leave you with a 2X's as wide wheel well?

My 37s rub on the trail. I have to be stuffed hard to get them to rub. They rub on the front lip in the front (S/R) and on the corners in the rear. I have trimmed all of the stock "flare" off the rear and hammered over the lip. I don't have much more before the rear door.

37x12.5 MT/R on a SOA with dropped bump stops. 1.5" spacers. Stock axle width. Lincoln locker with an antiwrap

I am thinking that 37's are the max on a pig without drastically clearing the wheel wells, fenders, and quarters. Gumby, looks like you did all you could do without the drastic cutting (and looks good BTW). I am thinking of going to 37's and will likely do the same with mine. The 14.5 wide of the 38.5's is what makes it hit so hard I believe on my rig...

i wish i could do some kinda drawing for a visual. but i think you get it. the idea is to make the wheelwell opening bigger w/o going into the door. so, i will move the rear axle back creating a shorter overhang, then open the wheelwell to accomodate. i am only talking 4-5" so it wont be double in size just enough to stuff bigger tires.
i was originally thinking i would move it back a bit more and take the wheelwell with it but have decided that looks goofy. in my mind the rear wheelwell will be oval instead of round.

that says it clearly, if the 38's don't sell, then I will be doing just that I believe. After looking close, the front appears pretty easy to stuff the tires..

Well, I plan on running 38's or 39's. I'm glad I read this before I got too deep into my buildup. Now, I will be tubbing out my rear fenders. That also means I'll have some rear door massaging to do as well. I've been looking around for replacement wheel tubs & they average $160 a pair from some race shops, so I'm gonna make my own.

I decided to keep em' and clearance via tube fenders and quaters... I'll post pics as I get to it. Certainly will be fully functional by the pig run this year...

yes moving rear axle back does solve door clearance issues.
you quickly run into the body mount during stuff if you go back too far, as I have proven with 4 inch springs and 36 inch swampers. SOA may help. I am going to tub my rear and have extended opening as well, will move body mount or eliminate

jeff your truck looks sweet on 38's, keep em

thanks for the props, I am ordering tube soon so hopefully I can get this project done before the ECPR or else I may just run with the fenders trimmed.. we'll see. Either way, I am really excited to wheel at Rausch with you all:grinpimp: and others:grinpimp:

gloria on some 38-15.5 siped swampers

Here is this piggie on some 38's with some serious trimming. I didn't do the work. I got the pig like that from the p.o that did do the work. I will have to take some interior shots of it for you. On this particular case I think it opens more to the rear which is ok because I'm thinking of moving the rear axle back to cut down on the overhang. It has all the clearance in the world though the tires don't have a prayer of rubbing.

Took some pic's of the rear fenders today. You can see that the interior is still a mess.
