Anyone run them? I tried searching but it wont let me search the term "37" ... I threw a 315 on the truck today for fun and it looked small, even with NO lift. I dont need 37's, but with my 3.5" lift going in I am starting to get the itch :hhmm:. Talk me out of it.

Tools R Us runs 37's with stock gears and wheels it a bit too :grinpimp:

I ran 35's at elevation, including wheeling regularly over 9K feet. That is easily as bad as running 37's near sea level.

Not ideal, but if you plan to regear at some point, going straight to 37's means you have money for regearing instead of selling your 35's cheap and buying 37's :grinpimp:

Its honestly not as bad as thought. I put 37s on 2 weeks ago. I have drivin it daily and wheeled it a considerable amount in the rocks and was quite impressed with how it does without gears. I did order 5.29s though. Its doable but I can feel that the ol cruiser would like some re gearing.

I was just going to start the same thread. I am on OME heavies right now, but I am thinking about Slee 4" for the spring. I don't NEED 37's, but I think that the wheeling I do might be easier on the truck if I have 37's (mud, snow, river crossings, abrubt embankment accents, etc.) No real rock climbing, so I think I can get away without re-gearing for now.

I just read a thread a couple days ago where someone stated that the 80 series was designed to run 35" tires, then there was some talk about the ECT button and how it was only put on NA rigs, everywhere else there was no button and large tires to match. Any truth to that?

I've been running mine with 37s and stock gears. It's not bad at all.

Having said that I just ordered my 5.29s and can't wait to get them installed.

A pig is a pig onroad. I would agree that it doesn't just come to life on the highway with the lower gears.

Offroad, however, there is no comparison between the stock gears and 5.29. 5.29's are barely low enough for 37's if you crawl.

i screwed up and bought 315's and wish i had gone straight to 37's ideally i think you should re gear either way as of now i just wasted $1,100 on new KM2's i alrealdy wanna replace with bigger ones

Oh sweet post 4,672 :flipoff2:

I have 37's, stock gears and a 3FE.

I have driven it that way since I bought it 4 years ago. I am however putting 4.88's in as we type.

I'm on 37's and stock gears. I'd prefure 5.29's for off-road, on road it's not that bad. If I lived in CO or WY and was up and down the mountains all the time I'd probably feel different, but the rolling hills around here I don't even get that much gear hunting. I was on short 35's (MTZ's) before this for 35K or so, so maybe I didn't notice the huge jump from stock tires to 37's as much. Or maybe it's the 1.5 hp I gained with the turbo muffler :)

wow .. lots of incentive to just say screw it and get 37's!!

Just curious why you chose to go with the 4.88's ?
I have a 3fe & will put 37's on soon and was thinking 5.29, but if you got a better reason... im all EYES.

He got a good deal on a set of loaded axles, so keep your EYES on the classifieds :D

im on 37's as well with stock gears and one of them blower thingies; will be shooting for 4.88 one day

I am now running heavy 37s on steel wheels after running 35s on factory aluminum wheels and didn't notice a huge difference on road. I agree that the real difference would be off road if you were to regear. I don't feel like 4Lo is really low enough for easy obstacles, let alone real crawling. Get the 37s and regear when you have saved up the $.

I run 36.5 on my hdj80 but the 1hd-t and h151 make quick work of it. I actually preferd the big tires. Makes the rpm's drop on the hyway.

Got a great deal on a set of FZJ80 axles with ARB lockers and 4.88's already installed..... seemed like a no brainer :grinpimp:

(edit yeah so like Jason said watch the classifieds)

That thing will haul ass then. I was suprised at how well Jason's rig got up and went off the line when I drove back from Sanford in it.

Not really V8 get up and go but for a land cruiser it was great. :D
