Need some tires for some 4wd trials coming up.
Last year I used 33x12.5 Swampers in the rear with Dunlop 235/85/16 on the front. The narrow front tires gave me a better turning radius but the Dunlops had no sidewall lugs making for poor grip getting out of ruts and sidehill stuff.

I dont compete on rocks , mostly slippery clay , long steep wet and slimey hills , moguls(more like huge pits) and very tight narrow twists and turns.

Want:
-I want more tire height to give better axle clearance
-big side lugs to get out of ruts
-most of all , a price that wont cause my wife to castrate me

Questions:
Would 36inch Swampers fit with minor fender cutting and a 2 inch lift?
Is 36 inch pushing the limits of LC axles ?
Are 34-35 inch better suited for safe 4wding with LC?

In the past I mostly used a Hilux for competition but being a 2 seater my wife despised it. It is presently up for sale and the proceeds will buy new tires and some parts for my LC.

---no, you will need at least 2 1/2" lift and a 2" body lift.

---in my books 35s is all i recomend for the LC axles, even less if the front is locked

Are 34-35 inch better suited for safe 4wding with LC?
---for me, yes. unless youlike to fix things...

the TRXUS was very impressive for me this past weekend.

What about the narrower Q78 Swampers?
It works out to 36x11
Is that still going to bust stuff?

I have front and rear lockers
I guess I should stay with 34 or maybe even a 33 inch

if you are dropping to 33" or 34" then go with the goodyear XT, wicked off road tire and a 31" stands as tall as most 33" and 15.5" wide...
i have been running them for about 15 years and just love them...
cheers

Thanks Wayne
Problem is they dont sell those Goodyears in Japan

I'll check into them some more.
