i would call the maker of your harness to verify this. but it is probably done by cylinder numbers 1 through 8 your system may fire (pulse each injector) separately. my system is batch fire and one bank (one side of engine) all fire at the same time. but the newer systems are sequential fire (pulse) so ever cylinder gets its squirt of fuel as the valve opens. here is a pic of the firing order. im back , i dont have much time to work on my 40 but it keep on going, the engine and computer are in (i found a nice spot under the dash) tomorrow the tranny and t-case , and later ,wiring, fuel systeme, radiator and heater hose , cable , exhaust, york ,
tank , seats and all the small stuff that take so much more time then what we plan at first.

today was a great day cause i start my tpi for the first time ,make an hour road test and everyting was ok ,no leak ,no issue for not using a vss (for now), crispy throttle ,no code ligth.
i build a surge tank with 1/4 x 4" alu tubing ,the top is from a mazda ,pump and filter is stock camaro 87, have to relocated hose from the york and modify mounting braket, wiring ,fuel line ,
put the tank and seat back on , stil have to put some heat protection for wire and brake line (old style headers create a lot of heat)sandblast and paint the skidplat, put the winch back on,
this winter im going to build a custome snorkle to get some fresh air to my engine

hey Jim, your cruiser looks great! glad to hear you got it up and running. and i really like your surge tank, very nicely done. keep us posted (or me) on the snorkel set up because that's on my list of things to do too. and the log cabin in the background is beautiful!

hello, its good to drive my 40 after ten monts stop ,but ther is a couple of factory recall ,
#1 my alternator stop charging and i discover it in the grocery parking lot after it wont start ,the red top show 8-9 on the voltmeter with key on (good thing to run dual batt with manual switch) ,so i switch to the yellow top and get home ,remouve the alternator and get it fix (new diode)
#2 the crank pulley and harmonic ballancer are not turning straight ,it is visible at idle (when i get this engine ,the pulley was a little bend ,the seller told me the engine has fall from a couple of inch on the garage floor as they move it, so i change the pulley)
now i get a new balancer that im going to install next week in hope the crank is ok
#3 i notice smoke from exhaust when i first start in the morning so i check the small valve on the fuel rail and after a night ,0 pressur, so i try injector cleaner aditive with no success ,i think they leak in the engine and it cause the smoke after a couple of hours , so im going to get them rebuild or new one ,but for now i dont want to get the top of the engine appart and it is running fine
#4 engine light go on and is not flashing on the first ride everyday so i stop and switch off the key and restart and it stay off for the rest of the day:confused: im going to check for code what do you think. have a nice day

hey Jim, so you got the battery figured out right ? i run the same type of set up with a marine switch so i can jump start my self. lets hope your crank isn't bent, its a little hard to believe a couple inch drop would bend the pulley but i guess its possible. and the smoke from the exhaust could be warn valve guides or just running rich until it gets to operating temperature and goes into closed loop operation. were is your O2 sensor at ? i don't remember seeing it in a picture. if its to far away it wont get to operating temp but then it should run rich all the time if that's the case. and your pressure regulator wont hold pressure overnight or at least i haven't seen one do that. it may hold pressure for a few hours though or you could have a leaking fuel injector. there are some ways to narrow it down go to New Page 3 and look in the TPI troubleshooting flowchart link it has some things to check to determine if it the pressure regulator. and this link has a picture at the bottom of the page saying to use a inferred thermometer to check injector function. http://www.hotrodlane.cc/Instructions/Export1.htm and yes i would check for codes but its weird that the light would go out. mine stayed on until i fixed the problems when i first got it running. do you know which terminals to jump on your ALDL to check codes or is your system OBD2 and needs a code reader to check them. any way good luck and let us know what you find out.

happy to see you gunman , the smoke is only for about 2 seconde on the first start of the day ,my o2 is on the header at the jonction of the 4 tube and i think its a heated one , and for code i can jump A and B on and follow painless instruction , so its normal that the rail dont hold pressur for long period of time , thank for the info:beer:

OK, if the smoke is just at fire up for a second or two i wouldn't worry about that to much then. and if your O2 has 4 wires (not 1) then yes its heated. and OK i didn't remember you went with a painless harness so that's easy enough to check. and yes jump A & B to read codes. and yes its normal not to hold the pressure after a while. other wise your pump wouldn't have to pressurize the system at start up. good luck!

new harmonic and pulley and good thing, my crank is ok no more whooble :) and some more testing yesterday i cross a ditch on the side of the road and it idle fine but when i climb back on the road i stop (nose up) and push on the clutch pedal holding the brake and the idle rise to 2000 than come back to normal :hhmm::confused: i think its one of the symptome of not using vss , but its the only one that i notice for now , there is also some little miss when cold so new plug soon
