I was doing some research on my next set of rubbers for trail use only and came across these. They kinda look like the Trxus M/T Radials. But I guess we couldn't get these in US, could we?

Riad,

I have tried to get those tires...

Simex is incredibly popular in Asia and Australia, and the size you have shown has won the Rainforest Challenge several times over.

For a very short period of time Norther 4x4 (in AK) was bringing in Simex tires, but they are no longer.

I wish you all the luck in making that happen!

those are my favorite tires and would buy some if they were available in the u.s

In the Tire FAQ thread, Mickldo says he used these tyres with only a 2" lift (they fit due to 10.5" width).

Unfortunately, 1) there's no US distribution on the Centepedes, and 2) I haven't found any USA-available offroad tires in the 35x10.5 size.

35's on OME 2.5" and regearing is very appealing... and a lot less expensive than Slee's 4" Kit and regearing.

These are a little taller but might work with a little lift. Tall and narrow similar to the Simex tires.

Michelin XZL 9.00 R16

Hope i dont hijack the thread...

But scott or anyone, can you please tell me why the XZL's are such a loved tire?

They are in the same category as diesel motors, steel wheels and no chrome.

Actually, there are better choices for a road tire, but the XZL is well proven and tested in mixed terrain; the narrow width allowing easier fitment (less lift) and the section height providing a long footprint when aired down. Super tough sidewalls and a tread depth of nearly an inch :)

Not saying they are the greatest tire of all time or anything, but maybe the coolest IMO

That Simex tire does not have a DOT designation on the sidewall and that's why no importer will touch them. I came within an eyelash of getting a set brought here for a sponsor event. Alas.

Centipedes rule:flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:

Yeah I have a set. Mine are worn that badly that I only have about 5mm of tread left in the centre but the outside lugs have heaps left on them. I need to regroove them, apparently you can regroove them about 3 or 4 times as they have a really tough carcass. Even with this amount of wear they still grip more than my new MT/Rs while playing hard core. On road they have good characteristics for an extreme tyre, in fact they are recognized as the tyre of choice for extreme events with high speed sections like the Outback Challenge where about 90% of the field run them. Tyre noise is like most hard core tyres... Howl like a banshee at anything above walking pace. If they were legal to run on the street over here I'd run them all the time though. In QLD we are only allowed 15mm bigger in diameter than standard so technically my 285s are illegal as well but they don't draw as much unwanted attention as the 'Pedes.

Going to Manar Park at Easter to have a go at some of the hard core tracks and will be running the 'Pedes. I will take some hard core wheeling shots with the Simexes to show how they tuck into the guards. As a matter of fact four of the six 4bys going to Manar with me will be running Simexes, both the Centipedes and the Jungle Trekkers(34/9.5R15).

They are a common tyre down here in the other half of the world :flipoff2:

Me thinking of changing from my Swampers to a set - but I just love the sound of the swampers rollin down the road!

Don't worry Centipedes howl too! :flipoff2:

Australian 4wd Monthly did a comparison with the hard core tyres in the 36-37" sizes. Boggers ruled as king of traction but the Simexes were the best all round tyre of those tested (IIRC). That test was in the 36/12.5R15 size.

So do you guys have any vendor on that side of the world, would ship these to US? :D

Riad stop beating around the bush and since you want these for offroad use only just get the boggers or tsl's. They are awsome for offroad use and you won't have to import them.

There are better prices out there, you gotta look for it. I just posted that particular one just to show you that they exist.

I have 35 on OME 2.5. It can be done.

I don't see your rig in the Garage? ;)

What are you running? Heavies? Spacers? Lowered Stops? Adjustable panhards? Which tires (size, make, model)?

What kind of load? Based on pictures it looks like ARB and Slee armor. Winch? Batteries? Aux Fuel Tank?

How does it perform? Rubbing?

Inquiring Minds want to know! :bounce:
