Flip flops that doubled as paddles and 501 cutoffs for sure. I worked for Goodyear back then and I would get these HUGE industrial tubes that we would inflate, lash a tight tarp over the top and bottom and 3 + people (one of them would undoubtedly be a well endowed young lady with us) would ride that bad boy down in comfort.

BUT...if there was an upstream breeze the high profile would sometimes make it walk back upstream. Paddle! (bicept burn = skin rubbing against rubber)

Ahhh...cold beer, the smells :smokin: ,and sights at the river....

I remember the river whoop was like the "wave" at a stadium but with sound. You could here the woops and cheers coming up the river and youd join in...and it would continue downstream after passing your party.

tube socks....really~? I dont think so!

No knee high's here Josh, just keep that uniform to yourself and your pool cleaning crew.

One more reminisent story then Ill stop (maybe)

2 other water holes for the locals back then to swim and both had cliffs to jump/dive from:

One was "6 poles" which was directly South on the road by the Verde river Baja gas station (which wasnt there) 5 miles or so in on the left next to the river. Complete with shady trees and sandy beach.

The other was the trail on the North side of Saguaro lake that takes you rom the last parking lot to other cliffs to hang out.

Once boats and jet skis came into the hands of some friends, those places didnt get visited as much.

Its good to see that there are some clean up efforts, Ive seen the river low and there is alot of "stuff" on the bottom. I think I may of even lost a couple pairs of sunglasses in the river :doh:along some tubing trips
