Okay so I have a 3 on the tree and the linkage is all messed up. There is nothing wrong with my 3 speed. Other than it's a 3 speed. I am in the process of doing the 4speed swap but am still figuring out how to convert my Ramsey PTO to the 4speed T-case.

Anyhow... If I get a top plate from a 3 on the floor and remove the top plate off my 3 on the tree is it as easy as just switching the top plates and cutting the hole in the hump???

I have to pull the trans tomorrow anyhow cause some dummy (ie me) forgot to put the clutch fork in before putting everything together. Yeah I know Ooops....

Yes.

:)

what about the value of origional

I have a 69 and thought about swaping on the tree for 3 on the floor. Do you think it will diminish the value of a completly stock rig?

IF you care enough to ask, somebody else probably does too. :hhmm:

I finally swapped out mine on the 69, not because of the column shift, but because I needed the space on the firewall that was taken up by the vacuum 4wd assembly, and I figured if I was moving the 4wd shifter to the floor, I might as well move the column shift as well. It was an easy job, made easier by the fact that I already the proper tranny cover, and didn't need to cut an additional hole.

Great news.
The reason I'm switching is because during the last on and off with the transmission some the the linkage for the column shifter got tweaked and or F ed up. Nothing works right anymore won't even go through the complete motions. I did like the column shifter but have never driven one off road either so I'm sure that would likely complicate things. Thanks for the info.

Anyone have a top plate and shifter hanging around they don't need?

I switch mine out for the only reason that any one should.....................................A 4 SPEED.

In time that's where I'll be going with this as well but I have to get the t-case from a friend for the 4 speed and get it rebuilt. So I need something to move the pig till then.

Mine was converted to floor shift before I got it.....Not sure why they couldnt have put in a four speed too...:)...I wish mine were still on the column though, I have a bench seat up front. Like to put my two kiddies up front with me but my son says he's about done with all the gear changing going on between his knees......:)

All it takes is a little time to hunt down the parts...most people just dump them anyways. Before you'd know it, you'll have all you need to convert her back ;)

I think for now I will keep a 3 speed on the colum. I am sure a 4 speed is much better, but if I do everything right the first restore I wont have a reason to work on it later.

yeah some how the last time I had the transmission out I twisted something don't think that I damaged anything but I can't get everything to work right again. So I'm going to the floor with it. Have someone that wants my linkages and everything so that works. Glad someone wants to use the stuff.
