The column shifter on the Ram works, but is a little clunky, which is what I expected. However, when I looked at the linkage moving through the gears, I saw that the lever arm is colliding with and then working around the steering adjuster on the inside of the steering box.
I adjusted the steering box bolt in as much as reasonable, but it didn't make a material difference in the geometry.
I've read several threads on rebuilding the entire shifter linkage, which is not what I'm hoping to do at this time. I'm hoping there's some adjustment to be done or single replaceable shim/part etc. to clear the adjuster bolt.
How can the link lever be adjusted? To me, it looks like if shimmed, it would loosen the interface with the follower on the top of the lever and the slot on the column lever. I can see that rotating the entire shift bracket could change the geometry, but it's difficult for me to visualize exactly how. The shift column is running pretty squarely on top of the steering column, making me doubt that's a proper or worthy effort.
See video below shfiting to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Reverse, then cycling through neutral pushing forward (2/3) and pulling back (R/1) several times. The white stuff is white lithium grease I was using before I realized the clunkiness was not based on linkages. I will be removing the excess shortly!
Any guidance appreciated!!
