Hey guys! My current rig is a 97 fzj80 with just an old man emu 3" lift. Currently running 33's with way too much extra room. Have a friend with some toyo 385/70R16's that wants to make a trade with me to downsize. Anyone know if I can fit these comfortably? I understand I may need to do some trimming but I'm fine with that just as ling as there aren't any other issues I haven't thought of. I have stock gearing as well. Some pics to make it relevant.

i am sure they would "fit" but you would need some massive bumpstop drops. i ran military 37s on mine and had 4 inch coils and a 1inch body lift and they still would rub at flex.

I have heavy rears and old J springs up front and 37x12.50s. I trimmed a couple inches off the back of the front fenders. I didn’t do anything with bumpstops. It rubs a little But I haven’t had any other issues.

I still run stock shocks and stock brake lines though so I don’t get nearly as much droop as some people which helped keep the tires out of the fenders.

You will have to ditch those plastic bushwhacker dealies I bet.

Do it. I run 38's, they still seem to small for the body lines of the 80, I show folks pictures of it and the remark is usually "those are 38's?" they seem smaller than that with the 80.

Still have the stock fender flares, if your tires rub then trim it, not other reason not to other than the bigger tires take more to turn, and add more leverage on spindles and bearings and axle shafts (when geared back to stock final drive ratio)

IMHO, these tires are too wide. 385 = 15.7"

And therein lies the rub! 37" not much problem, wide is more challenge,,, if you are looking for stuff/flex.

I know that rig, I met you in autozone in colorado springs, you may not love the gearing and tires combined. But Ive seen it done and it works. and if you hate pull em and swap the old ones on or go 35s.

Hey man yeah that's me! You're the one who suggested I get in here in the first place! Great place with lots if info.

But as for the setup that's what I figured, I don't daily drive my 80 so if I get them on and don't like how it drives or wheels then I'll just hold tight until I can trade out for a different setup.

Bottom line I just need to be able to get them on and get the rig home .from there I can do the necessary trimmings needed. 4.88 gearing also may be a thing in the near future so not too worried about that aspect.

You’ll rub ain turns if the body leans any. Be aware of that and you should get home fine. Just have to take sharp turns easy.

Got home just fine, first impression: not nearly as rough as I was expecting .sure there's a little rubbing going in at the back of the front wheel well but overall not bad for just daily driving around town. Will need quite a bit of work before I can take it wheeling but that's no big deal. I have another 80 that needs some attention anyways.

Wow, that was fast.
Looks great.
What is the back spacing of those wheels?

It's a good amount of offset thankfully, really helped the fitment considering how wide the tires are. I don't remember the exact measurements.
If you remember when I first saw your headlights the guy that makes the real deal grilles and now headlight combos on this forum is @kelly saad and his site is landcruisergrilles.com check him out.
