Could carbon build up on the pistons and cause a high compression reading?
John,
you sure?
i have pulled apart many diesels with carbon layer on top of the pistons. it would take very little to change the compression readings...
well I did a compression test today and the napa gauge broke when I was testing the second cylinder so I only have readings for cylinder # 2
I got 440psi on cylinder #2 this time humm?
now I have to wait for a new gauge to test the rest.
Truck started right up and started smoking a lot! and was pukin out some like black sooty goo.
I went for a drive and it smoked a lot A serious smoke screen! went onto the highway and it stopped smoking after about 10mins. I drove for about 45mins to get her nice and hot and charge up the batteries
Did you ever do another compression test. I 'd like to hear what happened. I had almost the same results on my 2H. 525 to 550 and then one at 440. Not much power and it would make a hell of a racket for a bit and then quiet right down. I thought it was probably a broken ring. I'd love to hear how you made out.Maybe there is hope for mine yet. petewell I did a compression test today and the napa gauge broke when I was testing the second cylinder so I only have readings for cylinder # 2
