Adding a 3FE head to a 2F block will get you 9:1 compression without any milling. My instructions to the engine builder was to mill only what was necessary to make the head and block flat. My truck pings on Mexican gas at factory timing.
I also told the engine builder to make me a "torque monster" as the 2F is not a high revving engine. So my HP numbers are not that high relative to the 3FE, but much higher than a 2F (+/- 160hp). Torque on the other hand blows the factory 2F, 3FE, and 1FZ away (290 +/- lb-ft). In my light FJ40 this engine is a dream to drive. I've had the engine to about 4200rpm. There was no need to pull any higher.
